I am researching David P. Pool (Pettypool) my gggrandfather who according
to the public lands, Claims West of Pearl River, his time of settlement in
Feliciana was December 1804. His estate settlement and a petition of a Richard
Taylor for tutorship are on file in the courthouse in Clinton. The petition,
dated 10/27/1830, states " David P. Pool lately departed this life in said
parish having among other children, four minors Baxtor, Huldah, David, and
Nancy." "have no relations--except their brothers Coldwell, Burrell, Leonard,
Spencer, and Timothy Pool." The above mentioned brothers and Baxtor are listed
on 1840 Census Catahoula Parish Census and Spencer and David later moved on
to Texas. I am trying to bring these families up to present date and willing
to share information that I have.
I am reseaching David P. Pool ( Pettypool) line from South Carolina to Louisiana.
According to a book of public lands, Claims West of Pearl River, it lists
a David Pettypool's time of settlement as December 1804. In the courthouse
at Clinton is a file containing his estate settlement, and a Petition of Richard
Taylor for tutorship dated 10/27/1830. It states "David P. Pool lately departed
this life in said parish having among other children, four minors Baxtor,
Huldah, David, and Nancy." "have no relations --except their brothers Coldwell,
Burrell,Leonard, Spencer, and Timothy Pool." I am trying to bring these families
up to present date. David was apparently m. in S.C. and later in Amite Co.
Miss. to Margaret Anderson 3/16/1819, and then to Frankie Wright 3/14/1822.
He is also listed in Hephzibah Baptist Church Records. These families later
moved to Catahoula Parish 1840 and Spencer and David went onto Texas. Will
be glad to share information I have on these or related lines.

I am looking for my ggrandmother's parents: she is listed in Amite CO in
the church recs....Addie Jackson, born 18 Aug 1877. She married Stephen Carey
McLain, and they later settled in Bogalusa, LA. There are a lot of McLains
buried in the Gloster cemetery; however, I don't know which are my ancestors...Research
shows that the Causeys owned a plantation in Amite CO. and I believe the Causeys
were her grandparents that raised her since she was 5 years old. The plantation
stretched into LA (your county). There are a lot of Causeys shown owning property
in your county. Can you find any reference to an Addie Jackson? I am trying
to find out who her parents were...all I know is that her mother's name was
also Addie Jackson. And, I am going on the assumption that her mother's maiden
name was Causey; and therefore, Addie was raised by her maternal grandparents
on the Causey Plantation. THANKS!

River Steam Boat. Ellen A. Thomas, was born in Jackson, La. on June 19, 1828,
died Sept. 11, 1859.
They had four children, two died in childhood. The other two were: David Thomas
md. Louisana Chalfant and Henry Griffin Miller, who md. Emily Tessier. Would
like to know what kind of accident did he die of? And did Ellan died of the
Yellow fever? Alot did in La. in the 1850's. Would like to hear from their
desendants. They are "cousins".
I am Willson Clark Miller's grt-grandson. My grandmother Julia Henrietta Miller,

his family after the CW. I have been working on this line off and on for quite
awhile. The name Miller is like Smith, Brown & Jones, just too many of
them.

Am searching for parents of great-great grandmother, Amanda Cobb, married

I am interested in sharing information with anyone researching the Capt.

Am looking for information on William F. Doughty, b. ca 1832, and his wife,
Nancy E. Hobgood Doughty, b. ca. 1838. William F. was a confederate veteran.
Also want info on their son, James Dudley Doughty, b. ca. 1861/63 who married
Inez White b. Nov. 186?.
James Dudley Doughty traded his land in East Feliciana with a lady who owned
land in Sunflower County, MS. and moved his family there. Then his parents,
William F. and Nancy Doughty followed him. Does anyone know what happened
to them? When did they die, where are they buried? I need documentation showing
the relationship between William F and James Dudley.

I am trying to find sketches or photgraphs of the homes and buildings that
used to front the courthouse square in Clinton. The Lawyer's Row buildings
are on the North side so we are ok there, but what of the South side where
the new bank is or the West side where the hardware store is?
I am particularly interested in the West side because I have heard the Andrews/Chase/Naumann
House was where the Dollar Store is. Were there similar homes adjacent to
that home? Photos and sketches would all be greatly appreciated.
I'm trying to track down an ancestress named Margaret Mae McKinney, b. June
7, 1874 in Clinton, LA. Any assistance would be appreciated.
I'm searching for information about my gggrandfather, John BEAUMONT, b. abt.
1812 in England, d. Aug. 1860 place unknown. He was a doctor, lived in Salem,
Ohio. However, his sister's obituary says he was in Louisiana. His brother,Thomas,
lived in East Feliciana for a while (not sure exactly when). I'm wondering
if John spent some time in East Feliciana too. He possibly would have had
his son George with him.
There are many inconsistencies in his life that we would like to clear up!
Any help locating any information about John is most appreciated!! Thanks.
The main name I am researching for that area would be Thomas Stephens as
early as 1889 and Louis Elmo Stephens He was married to a Carrie Phares July

I am looking for information regarding my grandfather, Henry Hartner Rist,
who was born Septemer 14, 1876, in Clinton, LA, according to family records.
It is thought that his father or grandfather immigrated to Clinton from Germany.
He moved to Victoria, Lunenburg County, VA, some time prior to 1902. He was
a carpenter by trade. I have found three Rist families in the 1850 census:
Family #631 headed by John Rist, Sr. (2) Family #435 headed by Wm. H. Rist,
(3) Family #460 headed by Ernest Rist, and a Fred Rist listed as #493. The
1900 census lists only an August Rist, wife & 3 daughters in the East
Felicina Parish. Nowhere can I find a Henry Rist. Your assistance in tracing
this line will be much appreciated.
I am looking for information on J.D. Delery and his wife A.L. and their six
children as found in the 1880 census. They are listed as living in or near
Jackson. Tradition says that J.D. Delery died before his sixth child was born.
The census would indicate that he was alive in 1880 after the sixth child.
He may have died shortly after since the family next appears in Texas in the
late 1880's and Alice L. is a widow.
Does anyone know how to get info on patients who were in the Mental Hospital?
My gg grandmother died there in 1936 and no one knows where she is buried.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!! Marcia.
I'm searching for information about Celia Morgan born about 1824. She married
Wm. Sanders in Washington Parish, La. They are listed in the census in Washington
Parish until 1860. By 1870 they disappear from the census. My g. grandfather,
Carroll M. Sanders, was born in 1862; he and his siblings are living in the
household of Wm. & Minerva Perkins in Calcasieu Parish by 1870. I'm assuming
Celia Morgan m. to Wm. Sanders died between 1862-1870. There were Morgans
that moved to Amite Co., Ms. by the early 19th century or earlier. Some of
their descendants migrated to East Feliciana Parish. I found this in the East
Feliciana Parish, La. Original Conveyances V. 3, Bk 1 dated 23 Jan, 1828:
Prissella Richardson to her gc Celia Morgan, Wm. Field Morgan, & Mary
Jane Morgan c of John Morgan & Corbi Morgan. I believe that Celia Morgan
mentioned in the conveyances to be my g,g, grandmother. I'm searching for
her parents. Some of the Morgans went to East Feliciana from Ky. and some
from Ms. who were from N.C. I'd appreciate any help. June

Jane CARR, b. 8 Jan 1834, LA. They were married in East Feliciana Parish on

Peyton C. CHAPMAN, but have been unable to find proof of this. Any help is
greatly appreciated.
I am interested in the Hugh D. Cunningham family of Wilson. Hugh and his
wife Elizabeth were the parents of 8 children: Clyde, Harold, Elsie, Annie
Ruth, Gertrude, James, Walter and Oren. Hugh was my husband's great-great
uncle. He was born in Fayette, MS and moved to Wilson as a young man where
he worked on the Y&MV Railroad. I would really like to know where they
are buried. Their descendants have many relatives who would like to regain
contact with the Wilson branch!
I am trying to find information on Jonathan Dunn. He was in East Feliciana

Searcing for information on John E. Palmer and sons Adam and Nehemiah. Appear
to have been among the first settlers of the Feliciana Parish around 1790.
Son Archibald, born 1758 in SC, is well documented. Have been unable to located
any information on John, Adam, or Nehemiah. There are many children in the
Archibald line named Adam and Nehemiah but no information which corresponds
to John E's sons.
I am looking for the ancestors of Sallie Mae Powers. She married a Watson
and moved to Baton Rouge in the early 1900's. She had sisters Zula and Alaska?
I think. I know that the Powers or Watson's had land in East Feliciana and
or St. Helena parishes. There are Watson's and their decendants that still
have land in those parishes. I am Sallie's grandson. Thank You! Vet Thoms
I would like to correspond with anyone researching Philip FISHBURN who arrived
in Jackson, Feliciana Parish, circa 1820, married Teressa CARNEY and they
had five children: Henrietta Maria, Mary M., Thomas J., Alexander C., and
Rhoda Elizabeth. Teressa died in 1837 when Rhoda was very young. Did Rhoda
go to live with anyone else? I have not found her on census records or in
cemetery records. Philip married secondly Jane Andrews widow of Elisha Andrews
- no more children. Philip died in 1884 his wife having predeceased him."
Many thanks,

I'm seeking any information on one Alzenith Arm (or Alzenith Ann or Alzenith Orn), listed in the pensions records of States Barton Flandreau as his first wife, to whom he was married in April 1860 in Clinton, Louisiana. He claims that she died in October of 1862.
States was something of a rogue. He came originally from Westchester County, New York. He appears in Perry, Georgia in 1859 and 1860 as Theodore Flanderow and D.P. Flandreau. He joined up with the 8th Louisiana Infantry of Rapides Parish as Stephen B Flandreau. At some point during the next two years he was captured, exchanged, switched sides to the Union, abandoned his unit, returned home to Westchester County, and then enlisted again with a Connecticut regiment. During his time in that regiment he was captured and imprisoned and then exchanged. He was wounded and finished the war in hospital.
Seven other women claim States as their husband, under a variety of names -- his given name, and Steven Alexander Flatbush, Theodore Flatbush, Alexander T. Flatbush, Alexander T. Barnes, and Stephen Flandreau. States only claimed two wives in his pension record, and only once does he mention Alzenith.
If any of these names or any record of the mysterious Alzenith turn up in
records of East Feliciana Parish, I would be grateful to hear of it.

Seeking information on the family of J. M. KENNEDY and Regina ROBERTS, who
resided in Lake Providence, E. Carroll Par., from about 1866, where they and
most of their children are buried. He was a lawyer and later judge. They married
in 1866 in East Feliciana Parish. I am particularly interested in her parentage,
for I believe she was the granddaughter of Henry Dunn F. ROBERTS, a Baptist
preacher in that parish in the 1830s. Any information would be appreciated.
Thank you. E. W. Prichard
Thomas L Andrews, a Clinton attorney in the 1830's, was a brother of Elisha
Andrews (d 1827 but married til then to Jane G McKinley Andrews Fishburn)
who founded the Jackson Female Institute or Seminary in the 1820's, and Stephen
Pearl Andrews, (The 3 brothers made there way to the Jackson and Clinton areas
of La from Hinsdale, New Hampshire). TLA married Louisa Tyson, a student at
the Jackson Female Institute, in the early 1830's. Thomas L Andrews and Louisa
Tyson Andrews lived in adjacent the Clinton Courthouse in the home that became
known as the Chase Naumann House in the 1830's. They moved in the early 1840's
to Looking Glass Prairie, Illinois, where they died young in the mid 1840's.
Thomas L Andrews and Louisa Tyson Andrews left 5 children who may have been
from ages 15 to 2 when their parents died. They may have been raised back
in the NE or possibly Hinsdale, NH. These children are the cousins of the
children of William Allen Lane of Clinton who was married to first one Tyson
sister, Mary Catherine, and upon her death in 1835, to another Tyson sister,
Ann Naomi. The Lane children and the Andrews children stayed in touch until
the 1890's when the evidence of contacts dries up. Here are the names and
details on the Andrews children that I ask for any information of:
Elizabeth Ann Lane Andrews-never married. Taught school in Mississippi in
the 1850's. Moved back to Perth Amboy, New Jersey and was alive as late as
1895
Jane or Jennie Andrews-married the NY writer and co-author with Stephen Pearl
Andrews, Oliver Dyer-lived in Brooklyn, NY-Died, I think, in 1867 leave Lowell
Dyer, an artist who moved to France, Oliver Jr., Jennie, Alice, and Lizzie,
a bookkeeper in Boston
Mary Elisa Andrews-married Gordon Bartlett-daughter Louisa married a Wyatt
and had a son, Pearl who married and moved to Florida. Also had a daughter
who married a Younger and may have lived in Beverly Farms, Mass
Rhobe Andrews-married a Walker and lived in Calif. Had Lathrop living in Oakland,
Cal, and Hattie who married a Farnum and had a child Launcelot who married
a Minabelle who had a child Minabelle June and lived in Los Angeles
Elisha Andrews III-ran away to sea and became a captain on vessels on the
Atlantic Coast and then in the Pacific. He married the daughter of the Chief
of the Friendly Islands, which is now Tonga in the South Pacific.
Any information or leads would be greatly appreciated. We have some pictures
and many letters involving these persons, but as noted, our evidence of contacts
stops in the 1890's.Thank you.

My father Leos Lucien DeAngury (sometimes Lucien L. DeAngury) said he was
born on 13 Nov 1897 in Louisiana. I have been searching for over six years
for him and cannot locate his place of birth anywhere. SKS named Anna found
a Leo DANGERUY/DANGIRUX in the East Feliciana Census born in May 1887. I am
wondering if there could be any connection to this family. Any information
anyone may have would be gratefully accepted.
Researching: Willis L. BALLARD, Melitta WHITAKER, Catherine Tobitha MAYES.
I'd like to share info with others researching these names.
My grandparents, Eliza Jane Crowder Parttridge and William Jack Parttridge
moved from Mississippi with their family to East Feliciana Parish around 1906
and left only following the death of my grandfather of pneumonia in 1923.
The family returned to Mississippi by covered wagon. He owned and operated
a blacksmith shop near the Bluff Creek community, and during that time patented
what he called a "seed gatherer" (it operated like a combine) in 1921. The
patent shows that the community he lived in was called "Sunbeam." Does anyone
know where this community is located? Have been unable to find anything about
Sunbeam. Also, does anyone know anyone who might have known my grandparents
during that time?? I would really like to correspond with someone who might
have known someone who knew them.
Nathan Carroll Yoes (Sr) left Tennessee after the 1820 census and died in
East Feliciana on September 19, 1826. His wife, Susan, also died in 1826.

was a Gordon descendant.

Any information on these families would be greatly appreciated.
My husband's father descended from Seaborn Smith and Pauline Harrell. Seaborn
and Pauline had several children. Among them were: Seaborn Scott Smith (who
died at about age 4 in 1909. He was their firstborn; Thomas Smith; L.D. Smith,
Samuel Harrell Smith, Jr. (my deceased father-in-law); and Evelyn Lorena Smith.
My guess is that Pauline and Seaborn were married around 1903 or 04.
Samuel Harrell Smith, Sr., is the object of my concern-- or his parents. Samuel
Harrell Smith, Sr., was born July 22, 1879 in Gilead, LA. I just learned that
Gilead was in East Feliciana Parish. Possibly the 1860 - 1880 census tables
could help answer my questions: Who were the parents of Pauline Harrell? My
guess is that her parents married around 1875. Who were the parents of Seaborn
Smith?
I do know that at least three of Seaborn and Pauline's children married the
children of Thomas Courtney Pennington and Augusta Elizabeth Sample. Can you
help me at all? Even telling me where to look would be helpful. I would appreciate
"any" help you can provide.
I am looking for information on the Bunch family from Bluff Creek (east of
Clinton). I know that there are still quite a few who live in and around Clinton
today. I am interested in all as I am doing research on my grandmother's family.
My grandmother was Bertha Louisa Bunch DeLaughter. She was born Dec. 13, 1913.
She married James Henry DeLaughter, who was ordained as a minister at the
old Bluff Creek Baptist Church. They adopted my mother, Eleanor Cecilia DeLaughter,
in November 1946 & were living in Denham Springs at the time. I am most
interested in information before they moved to DS, as far back as I can go.
I know that there were 10 children in the family & only 1 is still living.
My great aunt Kate Bunch Bankston is now 95.
Any information relating to this family will greatly be appreciated. Thank
you, Linda Beattie May
I am looking for any information on the parents of Charles (or Charlie) Augustus
GORE. Charles Augustus GORE was born May 9, 1865 in West Feliciana Parish

E. MORRIS and they had 9 children: Eddie, Florence Annie, Ollie, Nellie, Andrew,
Whitney, Pearlie (Pearl), Rosa Morris, Ulyis, and Nelson. Charlies parents
were William (Bill) GORE and LeNora (Nora) LEE. William GORE and LeNora LEE
had 3 children: Robert, Kate, and Charlie. Lenora LEE's first marriage was
to Bill MC CLEAN and they had 2 children. I am currently working on a family
tree tracing as far back as I can on the GORE family. Would like to know information
mostly on who William GORE and LeNora LEE's parents were. Any additional information
would also be helpful.
Henry Rhodes was listed in the 1830 E. Feliciana Parish census as age 20-30
with a female, presumably his wife, also age 20-30, with 2 other females -
one 15-20 and the other 70-80. His and his wife's estate, both deceased, was
probated in E. Feliciana 8/15/1840. His wife was named Asenath P. Warner.
Their heirs were Louisa Amanda Rhodes and Nathaniel Green Rhodes (both minors
represented by tutor John Sims) and Tabitha Asenath Warner, a minor represented
by her father William Warner. Asenath was the widow of Henry Rhodes (he died
ABT 1836) when she married William Dudley Jones Warner in E. Feliciana Parish
on 14 Feb 1837. She appears to have died during the birth of their daughter
Tabitha Asenath Warner, my ancestor, b. 27 Dec 1837. Tabitha and her father
may be included in the household of Tabitha (Cargill) Warner in the 1840 Washington
Parish census. I'm trying to learn who were the parents of Asenath. I recently
found that an Asenath P. Lyles, d/o Valentine Lyles and Drucilla Sims, is
said to have married a Henry Rhodes. Her father's household is listed in the
1820 Feliciana Parish census headed by Volintine Lile. Her mother's household
is listed in the 1830 E. Feliciana Parish census headed by Drucilla Lyle with
a 50-60 aged female (likely Drucilla) and including a 15-20 aged male. Does
anyone have a Louisiana marriage record for Henry and Asenath Rhodes? Any
other info regarding this couple and their parents would be greatly appreciated.

I am searching for the parents of Ann Eliza Keller born about 1829 and married
2-20-1845 in St. Landry Parish to Walter Kenedy (Canady). Her father was George
Keller who died Oct 21, 1863 per the family Bible. The marriage bond shows
George to be from St. Landry Parish but he is not found in the census in that
Parish. The name of the mother is unknown and not mentioned in the Bible.
Does anyone have any records which might tell me if the George and Elizabeth
Keller in this Parish are the parents of Ann Eliza Keller.

Emille Rosa Raoul ( wife #2) May 08, 1805. Emille was born December 28, 1789
in LA. They reportedly had 13 children John was from PA. Would appreciate
any help or suggestions. Thank you, Jean P.Rogan --jp.rogan11@verizon.net
I am researching my ancestor, William Richardson. He was born in Tennessee
around 1800. He came to Louisiana and married Mary Rogillio of East Feliciana
Parish, Louisiana about 1825. Can anyone help me find out his parents and
lineage? Looking for information on Jeremiah THROWER. We've found out he died in Feliciana
Parish (do not know which side) April 3,1815. A John SSTWEART asked to be
his administrator. At the time of his death, we believe his wife and son were
living in GA. From the information, it looks like he was working for the United
States--possibly in the military. The information states he was an overseer
for John STEWART's farm and that he died of Quinsey in the service of the
United States. Any help on this THROWER family would be greatly appreciated.
I am looking for my ggrandmother's parents: she is listed in Amite CO in
the church recs....Addie Jackson, born mar 18, 1875. She married Stephen Carey
McLain on November 7, 1895 in Amite County and they later settled in Bogalusa,
LA. Addie's mother died when Addie was five years old, then she was raised
by her grandparents on their plantation in Amite County, MS, which stretched
into LA (your county). Can you find any reference to an Addie Jackson? I am
trying to find out who her parents were...all I know is that her mother's
name was also Addie Jackson (i dont know her father's name or her mother's
maiden name). Addie had an older brother named Bud Jackson....he apparently
was raised on the LA portion of the plantation....i cannot find any references
for him...he later moved to Rio LA (just outside of Bogalusa, LA) Any info
would be greatly appreciated. THANKS! I am looking for information on some relatives" Mittie Nesom: Born in Feliciana,
Louisana probably before 1850. She married a Henry Anthony(?) Vaughan. Any
information you can provide on either of these names will be most appreciated.
Thanks very much I am looking for the marriage record of Pollard Harrison and Elizabeth Pannell.
The records I have say it was in E Fel Parish but I couldn't find any records
in the DAR library. Approximately late 1810's. ANY ASSISTANCE YOU MIGHT GIVE ME ON RESEARCH AND THE FOLLOWING PERSONS WOULD
BE APPRECIATED: My grandfather's name was Homer Cecil Doughty. He married Emma Scott 30 Jan.,1896.
Homer Doughty's father was named Alexander SCOTT Doughty. I wonder if there
is any genealogical connection between Scott, my grandmother's maiden name
and Scott, her father- in-law's middle name. I cannot find anything but maybe
somebody can connect the two Scotts who have no obvious genealogical connection.
It has bothered me but I realize it is not an earth-shaking conundrum. Sincerely
and thanks, Thomas Albert COWLEY died 1919 East Feliciana Parish Louisiana Is there anyone
who can tell me whether there is an old existing cemetery located in East
Feliciana for burial of mental patients who died while committed to the Jackson
State Hospital that was in existence for 150 years. I am trying to find a
gravesite for Thomas Albert COWLEY who died 16 November 1919 in East Feliciana
Parish Louisiana while committed to the Jackson State Hospital for the mentally
ill. I would appreciate any information. My email address is angelawilburn@earthlink.net.

John M. Gray and Louisa(Louise)Munson. I know Mary L. Gray married Mathurine
Berthelot November 23, 1857 in Clinton, La. I am trying to find information on Isham Dunn born 1769 in Camden Co., S.C.
and married Elizabeth Bunchley around 1799. He died 2-16-1815 in East Feliciana
Parish. Thanks in advance for any help. Researching the Washingtons of Lindsay and Slaughter, Louisiana. Lee(b.d.1859)
and Henrietta Washington(b.d.1861) had several children-George, Polly, Lernna,
Idella, Clara, James(my grandfather), Louis, Oscar, & Henryetta. Attended
Goodhope Freewill Baptist Church in Lindsay, Louisana. Would like to contact
relatives to exchange info. I am hoping to find out where James Booker (born 3-15-1796 in North Carolina
and died 11-25-1860 in East Feliciana Parish) and his wife Mary Higginbotham
Booker (born 5-8-1807 in Georgia and died 11-23-1875 in East Feliciana Parish)
are buried. They lived on Bluff Creek. There is a Booker Cemetery and many
of their descendants are buried there but James and Mary are not listed there.
My g-g-g- grandfather was Reddin Brown (a War of 1812 veteran) who died on
25 August 1844 in East Feliciana Parish. My understanding is that he is buried
in the Brown Family Cemetery along with a number of other ancestors of mine.
According to a distant cousin, the directions to this cemetery are: go east
of Clinton on the Greensburg highway to Hatcher's Store, then make a right
turn on a gravel road, drive to a fork in the road, turn right, and then the
cemetery is about one mile away on the right. My understanding is that the
present landowner is unwilling to allow people to visit the Brown Cemetery.
Does anyone know if the cemetery is indeed unable to be visited at this time?
And just for my records, are the above directions correct? I live in Oklahoma
and would like to visit the cemetery sometime--if possible. Thank you so much
for any help! While tromping through the woods near Ethel, I found a tombstone with the
engraving of: P V Bracey, born Sumpterville District, SC April 11, 1804 Died

31 with his wife AMANDA, (HOWARD), age 22, and sons William, age 3, Charles,
age 1, James, age 7, George, age 5. The two older children are Amanda's stepchildren.
I want to find out who the stepsons' mother was, where Charles was in 1860
and who his parents were. Family legend says Charles was never enslaved and
that the family was from VA. I would like to document this also. Searching for more information on 3 males named SAMUEL S.CROCKER, ELISHA

NC Wayne county also moved to Crawford county, Illinois in 1847. His cousin
Washington Wilson and a probable uncle Alfred Bradbury bought the land connecting
to JOHN CROCKER'S land. I would like to know where the 3 CROCKERS came from
before arriving in LA and perhaps if they maybe kin to my ancestor JESSE CROCKER

I am researching the lynching of CHARLES BROWN, born in 1831 in Mississippi.
He was hung in September 1879 in Clinton, East Feliciana. Oral history says
this was a lynching. I have also confirmed through U.S. Census Mortality records
that he was hanged. He left his wife AMANDA BROWN (nee HOWARD, daughter of
POLLY HOWARD of Maryland) and her stepchildren WILLIAM, age 10, JAMES, age
15, and GEORGE, age 13; their children TRUMAN, age 8, THOMAS, age 6, ESTELLE,
age 5, CHARLES, age 3 and ABRAM, age 10 months. I want to document the circumstances
of his death, and also want to find his parents, and the ancestors of his
wife Amanda. I am trying to find out some information about my uncle. His name was John
Bruno. He was born about 1905 in Crawley LA. He was a patient at East Louisiana
Mental Hospital in Jackson and passed in the 1950’s. I would like to know
if the records are still available, when did he die? My Mother’s name was
Albertha Ray Bruno. I am trying to obtain any information that may be available
i.e. commitment dates, accurate dates of birth and death, where he may be
buried. Anything that you can help me with would be appreciated. I have stumbled across an Ira McCoy, b1814, farmer, in the 1880 census for
this parish. I am a descendant of Ira's sister Mary C. McCoy, b1809 in South
Carolina. She married William Hughes in Amite County, Mississippi, and was
the daughter of William Sibley McCoy, also from S.C. Mary C. McCoy was my
gggrandmother and any info I could obtain about the McCoy lineage would be
most helpful

I am searching for birthdate of Ann J. Rhea, daughter of John R. Rhea and
Emily Rosa Raoul of East Feliciana. I know that she was born between 1821
and 1825. I know that she married Dr. Frederick Rowe Harvey on Nov. 30, 1841.
I know that she died in Atchafalaya District on Oct. 21, 1861. Are there any
early school records or early Presbyterian Church Records that might lead
me to her birthdate. Even though her mother was Catholic, I believe that all
of the children were raised Presbyterian. Thanks in advance. Martha Henagan
