PLEASE JOIN US ON THURSDAYS
9am to Noon-ish
We have a great group of members gathering weekly at Broadmoor Branch Library (toward the back of the Genealogy Dept.) working on FOG's ongoing obituary project.
We are cutting the remaining laminated cards and alphabetizing obituaries from older newspapers to add to FOG's cabinet of obit cards that are housed in the Genealogy Dept. at Broadmoor.
We talk about family research, answer any questions or help a fellow member about genealogy.
Some are doing research...for ourselves or others.
Some have lunch together afterwards but it's optional.
Basically we're having a good time.
WHAT CAN FOG MEMBERS DO?
Can you work from home - an hour or so per week?
We have entered the future! We are now scanning obituaries from The Shreveport Times and other newspapers and can use some help since there are so many each day. Our members are encouraged to 'adopt' a newspaper or funeral home and save the obituaries to computer files. These files will be transferred to CD and given to Broadmoor Library for use by researchers.
The following newspapers have already been adopted.
