smith Sat May 3 00:18:45
1997 I am looking for information on Dorse SMITH, who lived in
Winnsboro, LA. in 1939. It is probable that "Dorse" was a nickname. He was
listed in the obituary of Mr. Isom "Ike" Smith as being his brother.
However, this is almost certainly a mistake, it is more probable that he
was his son or nephew. Dorse would have been born in MS, and had a
relative, possibly a brother or cousin living in Silicy Island, LA. during
this same time. Dorse is one of the many decendents of Tommy "Briar-Patch"
Smith of Lincoln CO. Dorse could be one of the 217 great grandchildren
desendent from Tommy. And is one of two, who lived for a while in LA. all
others remained in Lincoln County and around the Brookhaven area. Any
information on "Dorse" and his family would very useful and greatlly
appreciated.

22:57:41 1997 HELP! Am stuck on my grgrgrandfather, Zachary
(Zachariah)Talton (Tarleton?)Earle, born 8 April 1831 (Family Bible)
possibly in the present area encompassing Franklin Parish (listed as place
of birth on his death certificate). Feel sure that Henry Earle, first
clerk of court in Franklin was his brother and suspect at least one other
brother produced the Earles in the Rayville area. My family had numerous
contacts with all of these people, even into my time (I am 52). I met Carl
and Pat Earle in Rayville; they knew we were related, but did not know
how. One of these gentlemen was matched to my grandfather's sister,Bessie,
but she refused to marry him. My grandfather's aunt, Margaret Bonner Earle
wife of B. T. Allen, had a scrapbook with photos and other memorabilia of
these connections. Can anyone help me? Attention allied families of Earle,
Krause, Mulhearn, Rhymes, Norwood, Doyal, York. The late Dr. Brashear
Earle of Winnsboro and I tried to piece this together unsuccessfully.
Thanks for any help and I will share what I have. Kind regards. CLIFFORD

Brenda My
son's gr-gr grandfather was Gen. Claire Lee CHENNAULT of the Flying
Tigers. His family came from Franklin Parish. I would like to confirm or
disprove the following marriage date: John Stonewall CHENNAULT (s/o
Stephen Nelson & Francis Norcussis THOMASON) m. 7 Dec 1892, Franklin
Par., LA to Jessie LEE (d/o William Wallace & Josephine GILBERT). This
date would clear up the argument of when Claire CHENNAULT was born (some
of my son's family say 6 Sep 1890, others say 6 Sep 1893). I would also
like to find out who Josephine GILBERT's family and ancestors were. I have
that she and William Wallace (s/o Henry Bryan & Margaret B. LEE) were
married in Franklin Parish in 1872. The notes I have only say that she
came from "an old, well-respected family". This was William's second
marriage. If anyone can help, that would be great! Thank you, Brenda
