AKERS/RICHARDSON Posted by Mark James <email@example.com> on Tue, 17 Nov 1998 Surname: AKERS, ACRES, RICHARDSONI'm looking for information on William AKERS (ACRES) (1808-1889), founder and first mayor of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, back when it was part of Livingston Parish.
His first marriage was to Margaret RICHARDSON (b. 1819). The marriage took place in 1834 and ended in divorce in 1847, by which time the couple had six children.
His second marriage was to Julia Ann (or Julia Cynthia) VINEYARD (1833-1897), in 1850. Julia was his wife during his days of fame as mayor, and Margaret seems to have fallen off the face of the earth. I'm told that she died in 1899, but I don't know where, or what her name was then.

Francois Vilmot Posted by Drew Gaudet <email@example.com> on Tue, 08 Sep 1998 Surname: Vilmont, Gregoire, Berthelot, BabinI am searching for what seems like needle in a haystack in Livingston Parish. My grandfather, Lawrence J. Babin, is the youngest son of Emile Oscar Babin and Laurencia (sometimes Leoncia) Vil(l)mo(n)t. He is now 83 years of age and has always wanted to know more about his mother and her side of the family. I have found that Laurencia was born about July of 1877 near Bear Island. Her father was Francois Vilmot and her mother was Edvige Gregoire. Laurencia was orphaned around 5 years old as the Succession of Frank and Advize Villemont states that Frank died in 1879 and Advize in 1882. Frank was from France and was listed as a swamper having resided in Livingston parish for 12 years in the 1880 Mortality Schedule of Livingston Parish. Frank's parents were probably Arnaur Vilmont and Rosalie Josephine as per EBR Catholic Diocese Records. Also, the same records state that Laurencia had a brother named Cyrille who died as a child. I believe that Laurencia was reared by her grandmother, Adelaide Bethelot Gregoire, along with some Cambres. They are listed in the census of St. Joseph's Church in French Settlement in 1882. According to the succession of Frank Villmont, Adam Hoover states that his wife, Ophelia Treigle Hoover was the half-sister of Theophile Vilmon (issue of Frank Vilmont and Phelonise Vilmon) and that Theophile was a step-brother to Laurencia and Cyrille. I don't know if Adam Hoover's statements are true, does anyone?
I will be happy to share any info that I have.

I am looking for information about my great-great-grandmother, Adele or Adela GREGOIRE, who was born in Livingston Parish about 1844. I have no other familial information on her. She married Ferdinand RODIELLAT sometime prior to 1870, but they lived in Donaldsonville. If anyone can provide me with her family history, I will be glad to provide descendants. Thank you.
GREGOIRE Posted by Dwayne Montz <email@example.com> on Wed, 22 Jul 1998, in response to GREGOIRE, posted by Christi Malone on Sat, 27 Jun 1998 Surname:Christi,
The book, DIOCESE OF BATON ROUGE CATHOLIC CHURCH RECORDS, Vol 9, page 237, has their marriage as follows: Adela GREGOIRE, dau of Jacques GREGOIRE and Adelaide BERTHELOT, married 2 July 1860 at St Michael Church, Convent, St James Parish, LA, to Ferdinand RODELIAT (he signs RUDULLOT), son of Jean Baptiste Victor RODELIAT and Claire CARENNE, deceased.
Adele's birth is given in Vol 6, page 284: Adele GREGIRE, dau of Jacques GREGOIRE and Adelaide BERTHELOT, born 29 Jan 1844 and bap 9 May 1844 at St Michael Church, Convent.
Adele is listed with her parents and siblings in the 1850 and 1860 St James Parish Census', so it seems she was not born in Livingston Parish.

His father was called Sharp Kerr and his mother was

a car accident in Montana. I've seen a letter written by
him a few days before he died and he signed it "Frank"

CAMBRE Posted by Dwayne Montz <firstname.lastname@example.org> on Wed, 22 Jul 1998, in response to Cambre, posted by Leonard Paul Gonzales on Mon, 11 May 1998 Surname:Leonard,
The book, DIOCESE OF BATON ROUGE CATHOLIC CHURCH RECORDS, Vol 12. page 118, has the marriage record abstract of a Henri Cambre, son of Marcellin Cambre and Helvina Millet, married 13 May 1873 at St Theresa Church, Gonzales, to Marie Eliza Shenixdre , dau of Ursin Shenixdre and Euphemie Descaraux.
Vol 13, page 118, has the birth and baptism of their son, Ursin Orice Cambre who is probably your "Varice" Cambre. He was born 31 Oct 1876 and baptized at Port Vincent on 4 Nov 1876.
I could not identify a baptism for "Harris" Cambre born 31 Oct 1877 as stated in your query. Vol 13, page 118, does have the baptism of a "Henri Evariste" Cambre, baptized 24 Oct 1874 at Bayou Coliel and recorded in St Joseph Church in French Settlement. Possibly this could be your "Harris"?????

I thank you for the information. It is not the information
I was looking for, but I thank you very much.
I was looking for information on Harris and Varice Cambre.
I could not find them no where. The reason I could not
find them is because they went by nick names. Thanks to
you and others I was able to put it together.
Ursin Orice Cambre is Harris Cambre my grandfather.
Henri Evariste Cambre is Varice Cambre that I knew as Uncle
Varice. With that info I was able to locate their father
and mother as Henri Cambre and Marie Eliza Schexnayder.
Marie remarried but gave up the boys. Charles L. Cambre
raised the boys. Charles L. married Lydia Lambert and they
had no children of their own.
