WHAT'S NEW!

Photographic History of Madison Parish Available

Arcadia Publishing Company’s Images of America series now includes a
photographic history of Madison Parish. Released on April 15, 2003 this
book includes historical data, drawings, graphs, maps and photos of the
Madison Parish area relative to the years 1800-1927. The book is divided
into five chapters that document the Early 1800’s, Civil War, Reconstruction,
Early 1900’s and 1927 flood.

The book is available at several locations in Tallulah, including Madison
Historical Society’s Hermione Museum, as well as at major bookstores
such as Barnes and Noble, Borders, Waldenbooks and Books-A-Million.
It is also available online at Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble, Arcadia
Publishing and others.

Singer — John Earl Martin's interesting history of the Singer Sewing Machine property in Madison Parish and its relation to the Ivory-billed Woodpecker and the Chicago Mill and Lumber Company .

1940 Census Index — A VERY PRELIMINARY index to the 1940 Census has been added. It containes over 20,000 entries. Unfortunately many names are currently in error. Plans are to correct the names as best as possible and link them to the actual Census Images.
