Does Anyone Ever Look at All This Stuff 2012?

What follows are detailed statistics for the Madison Parish LAGenWeb website for the year 2012. Less-detailed statistics are included for the years 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011.

Between 2000 and 2012 the weekly visits, commonly known as “hits”, to the Madison  Parish LAGenWeb website varied from a low of about 40 per week to a high of 250 per week during the 2011 flood period. Each “hit” represents one visit per day to the website’s Home Page. To be counted hits from the same IP address must be at least one hour apart. Visits to additional pages on the website are not counted.

 

At the beginning of the year 2000, the average (yellow line) number of accesses per week about 60. By the end of 2012 this rate had increased to about 90, although it was as high as 100+ during 2011. During 2012 there were 6323 visitors to the site as opposed to 6670 in 2011, 7159 in 2010, 6880 in 2009 and 6204 in 2008. 2008 also included visitors from the LAArchives which data were not used for 2009-2012.

         This interesting graph shows the increased popularity of Edward Haas’ 1982 story of the 1899 Tallulah Lynchings after Donna Jo Napoli’s version (Alligator Bayou) was published in March 2008. Haas’ story is factual history. However the Napoli book is highly fictionalized and unauthentic.

During 2012 309 visitors from 161 different cities in 54 different foreign countries viewed data on the Madison Parish LAGenWeb. Note that the 2008 figures below also include data from the LAArchives site, whereas the 2009 - 2012 numbers are for the LAGenWeb site only
