Madison Parish Louisiana - Fifteenth Census: 1930

The 1930 census images are stored two images per page shown (1) by the page number - right hand (front) page and (2) by the page number followed by a "b" which is actually the reverse side of the previous right-hand page. If you haven’t already done so, locate the person in question on the 1930 Census Index. Then go to the page listed. If the person is not listed on that page, go to the other image on that page (e.g. 107 to 107a.) To enlarge the image click on the enlargement button or right-click the image and “zoom in.” NOTE: These are reproductions of the actual census ledgers and vary in quality from illegible to very good. Because of the poor quality, many of the names are misspelled. If the person for whom you are searching does not appear to be in the index, try other possible spellings.

 

The fifteenth census of the United States lists information that should reflect living status on April 1, 1930 (Census Day). The 1930 census was indexed using a Soundex system, although the index mentioned above is not Soundex.

·         Whether able to speak English

·         Trade, profession, or particular kind of work done

·         Industry, business, or establishment in which at work

·         Class of work

·         Whether actually at work or unemployed

·         Whether a veteran of the US military forces mobilized for any war or expedition

·         Name of the war or expedition

·         Number of farm schedule
