Virginia Piper Claytor passed from this life to life eternal on December 4, 2011.

Born July 21, 1924 in Tallulah, LA, she was the daughter of Max L. Piper and Nelle Johnson Piper. She lived in various locations in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee before coming to South Carolina to continue her education. She married Bill Claytor in 1951 and became his soul mate and lifelong partner in ministry in the South Carolina United Methodist Conference. Together they served Ebenezer Methodist in Greenville, Poe Mill Methodist in Greenville, Slater Methodist, Enoree Methodist, Pelzer Methodist, Lynwood - Trinity United Methodist Churches in Lancaster, Rehoboth United Methodist Church in Columbia, Bethel United Methodist Church in Simpsonville, St. John - Laurens Road United Methodist Churches in Greenville, Zoar United Methodist Church in Greer, and Buncombe Street United Methodist Church in Greenville. She was employed at Columbia Office Supply in Columbia from 1968-1972 and then at Kemet Electronics in Simpsonville from 1972-1984.

She is survived by her children , Judith Claytor Snow, her husband Don of Nashville, TN, and their children Christina Snow Smith and John Claytor Snow; Pamela Claytor Evans, her husband Doug of Greenville, SC, and their children William Claytor Evans and John Pinckney Evans; Barbara Masemore of Cape May, NJ, her husband Chip, and children Tami Carmichael Grossman, Tanya Carmichael Bartlett, and Kevin Shane Carmichael; Stephen Reginald Claytor, his wife Sandi and children Alison Adams and Brantley Drake; great-grandchildren, Ellery Smith, Chloe Bartlett, Finn and Reeve Grossman; a sister, Elizabeth Piper Dalhauser; and two brothers, Cecil Johnson Piper and Donald Stanley Piper. She was predeceased by her husband, Rev. William R. Claytor, Jr., her parents, and siblings Max Laurel Piper, Charles Raymond Piper, and Mildred Piper Dalhauser.

Ginny was actively involved in the life of Buncombe Street UMC. Some of her dearest friends came to her later in life both at church and in her neighborhood at Rolling Green Village. Her life was active, full, and joyful through the morning of her injury. She touched many lives and will be fondly remembered for her strength, humor, playfulness, and kindness.

Special gratitude goes to the nursing staff of the Neuro Trauma ICU and Neuro Surgical floor at Greenville Memorial Hospital who professionally and tenderly cared for Ginny and her family.

A celebration of Ginny's life will be held at Buncombe Street United Methodist Church in Greenville on Thursday, December 8, 2011 at 11:00. Interment will be private.
