Currie - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, July 27, 1951 Mrs. Annie E. Currie Mrs. Annie E. Currie, former Madison Parish resident, died last Friday, July 20th at the St. Joseph Home in Monroe, La, where she had been the past few years, in the care of Mrs. J. D. Currie, wife of Mrs. Currie's nephew, Gardner Currey. She was 91 years of age. A native of this community, Mrs. Currie was born December 1, 1860 on Richards property, now known as Roosevelt, La. She was the last of the Hester Ann and W. C. Currie children, and was educated at Reedville Academy, Baton Rouge, La. She had spent practically all her life with her sister, Mrs. J. H. Gilfoil, at Omega. Funeral services were conducted Saturday morning, July 21st at 9 o'clock at the St. Edwards Catholic Church, Tallulah, with Father Maure officiating. Burial followed in the Old Vicksburg Cemetery. Pallbearers were W. R. Gilfoil, T. L. Hughston, J. T. Cole, J. H. Gilfoil, Jr., J. M. Gilfoil, Fred Riser, Melvin Riser. She is survived by six nephews: M. Scholastica, Vicksburg, Miss.; W. R. Gilfoil, Tallulah; W. C. Currie, Tucson, Ariz.; A. S. Lewis, Memphis, Tenn.; F. J. Muhl, Shreveport, La:; Major J. T. Cole, Baton Rouge, La.; four nieces, Mrs. D. R. Hughston, Lake Providence, La.; Mrs. L. A. Deem, Maumie, Ohio; Mrs. C. F. O'Sullivan, Vicksburg, and Mrs. T. L. Hughston, Tallulah.
