LAFAYETTE - Funeral
services will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at an 11:00 AM Service in La
Chapelle de Martin & Castille
for Janet Irene Waters Norwood, 69, who died on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at
her residence in Lafayette.
Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens
Cemetery. Reverend Lance Bennett will officiate the
services.
She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband, James Ralph Norwood II of
Lafayette; five sons, James R. Norwood III and his companion, Jill Brickner, Jason D. Norwood and his wife, Tina, Justin N.
Norwood and his wife, Kimberly, Jeremy M. Norwood and his wife, Suzi, and Jonathan K. Norwood and his wife, Robin; twelve
grandchildren, Shelby and Jamie Norwood, Nicole and Stephanie Floyd, Patricia Briley, Karson Norwood, Bryton and Ian Norwood, Nash Norwood, Dylan and Nicholas Buller and Mason Guilbeaux; one
great granddaughter, Kyleigh Cooper; one sister,
Elaine W. Johnson and her husband, Leon; and two loved sisters-in-law, Julia
Waters and Melanie Waters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Duane C. Waters and Helen Keller
Waters; and two brothers, Kenneth D. Waters and Donald L. Waters.
Janet Irene Waters Norwood was born on November 8, 1943 in Tallulah, Louisiana and
resided in Lafayette for over 58 years. She was an active member of Riverside
Church of Christ and was always the first person to lend a helping hand,
visiting friends in the nursing home every Monday. She also sang with
"Sound Waves" for many years. Janet was a very honest, giving, caring
and accepting person who led her life through Christ. She will be dearly missed
by family and friends.
Pallbearers will be James R. Norwood III, Jason D. Norwood, Justin N. Norwood,
Jeremy M. Norwood, Jonathan K. Norwood and Mason Guilbeaux.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN location on Monday, January 21, 2013
from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Tuesday, January 21, 2013 from 8:00
AM until time of services.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Janet's name
to St. Jude Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105.
