Booker T. Washington,
Jr. (commonly known as June), was born the first son to Terry and Booker T.
Washington, Sr. on December 31, 1936 in Talla Bena, LA He was educated in the East Carroll Parish School
System. His career included farming, working at Sondheimer
Lumber Company, and later was employed as a Correctional Officer at the East
Carroll Detention Center. He confessed Christ and joined the New Zion
Missionary Baptist Church in July, 1965, under the leadership of Rev. E. C.
Cable. He served as an usher and later became a deacon. He remained there until
his demise on November 28, 2011. Booker T. was preceded in death by his
parents, Terry and Booker T. Washington, Sr., one daughter, Shirley Redden, one
sister, Mattie Wyatt, and one brother Ocie Washington.
He leaves to cherish his memory : a loving wife of 56 years, Willie Jean
Washington; eight children: Ira (Hazel) Johnson, Monroe, LA; Booker T. (Agnes)
Washington III, Las Vegas, NV; Nathaniel (Mary) Washington, Richland, NC;
Patricia Washington, Slidell, LA; Tracy Washington Ward, Shreveport, LA; Cornelious Washington, Las Vegas, NV; and Jennifer
Washington of Tallulah, LA.; Seven sisters: Helen Washington, Sondheimer, LA; Loletha
(Lieutenant) Wiggins, Sondheimer, LA, Mary (Waymond) Favors, Seattle, WA; Gloria Washington, Detroit,
MI; Donah (Kerian)
Sullivan; Seattle, WA, Lucille Washington, Oakland, CA and Carolyn (LeRoy) Scott of Fort Worth, TX. Nine brothers: Cleophus Washington, Las Vegan, NV; Robert Washington, Sondheimer, LA; Charles WAshigton,
Atlanta, GA; Grover Washington, Detroit, MI; Frank Washington, Las Vegas, NV,
John (Veronica) Washington, and Tom (Carol) Washington, Detroit, MI; Bruce
Washington, Las Vegas, NV and M.C. (Gwendolyn) Collins of Inglewood, CA. 18
grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins,
relatives and friends.
