Pablo TUFANIO left Palermo Sicily on April 6 1878 bound for New Orleans. On the 7th of March 1887 one Maria LIUZZA registered in New Orleans the births of three children born to Pablo TUFANIO ,age 40, and Nunzia LIUZZA, a native of Contessa, Italy, age 36. Two of the children were registered as being born in Amite City, they were Epifanio born on the fourth day of September 1883 and Maria born the 27th of January 1885. She was my grandmother. The third child whose birth was registered at the same time was Mariana born 27th of Sept. 1881 at 26 Dauphine St., New Orleans. A fourth child, Carlina appears on the 1900 census for Iberville Parish. It is believed Nunzia was deceased prior to the taking of this census. I have been unable to obtain any information on her, date of death, place of burial etc. I have not been able to locate the grave of Pablo who died in New Orleans 30th of July 1919. Any information on this couple, their ancestors, siblings etc. would be deeply appreciated. Sincerely, Saundra Picou Overton

I am looking for information on Joe SURTAIN. I think he was born in Amite, Louisiana. He married a woman whose name was Ellen--I don't know if that is the correct spelling. He had a number of children. The only names that I know are Joe Jr., Osborne, and Deborah. I think he eventually moved to New Orleans.
Because the name Surtain is not a common name, research on it should be fairly easy. The information that I am hoping to obtain is his birthdate, wife's first and maiden name and his parents' names.
Thank you for your time and assistance.
