Acts #801 - 963 No. 801 On April 6, 1829 Leufroy BARRAS went to the domicile of Stanislas BOUDREAU, accompanied by Auguste Hurtado VERRET and Henry C. THIBODAUX, witnesses, for the purpose of making an inventory. In the presence of Widow Louis PINEL, deputy-guardian of the minors under the age of adolescence, and August BOUDREAU, curator for Joseph Adrien BOUDREAU and Francois BOUDREAU, Antoine BAYE and Jean Baptiste VERTEFEUILLE, valued all property and goods at $848.62 1/2. Witnessed by Henry C. THIBODAUX and A. H. VERRET. No. 805 112/A/10881 On April 22, 1829 Alexandre VERDUN made Mr. KIMPER, of the Parish of St. Mary, his general and special procurator, to present a petition to the Police Jury of St. Mary Parish, for the purpose of obtaining the permission to free three slaves, viz.: Melinday, mulatto age 9 years, Cadet, mulatto age 6 years and Alin, mulatto age 3 years, all children of Marcelitte, mulatto, to whom he has already given freedom. No. 806 3/510 On April 22, 1829 Alexandre VERDUN, in consideration of the sum of $500.00 cash, hereby sells, cedes and abandons to Melanie, daughter of Marie GREGOIRE, land containing 5 arpens front on each side of Bayou Terrebonne, with depth as the certificate of confirmation calls for, bounded above by Pauline, free colored woman, and below by lands of vendor. Witnessed by Pierre CHIASSON and Lewis LYNG. No. 807 3/511 On April 22, 1829 Alexandre VERDUN, in consideration of the sum of $500.00 cash, hereby sells, cedes and abandons to Felicite Marguerite, free colored daughter of Marie GREGOIRE, deceased, a piece of land 5 arpens front on each side of Bayou Terrebonne, with depth as the certificate of confirmation calls for, bounded above by land of Jean Baptiste, free young colored man, and below by land of Eulalie, free colored woman. No.810 3/515 On April 22, 1829 Alexandre VERDUN, in consideration of the sum of $500.00 cash, he hereby sells, cedes and abandons to Ursin, son of Marie GREGOIRE, deceased, a piece of land 5 arpens front on each side of Bayou Terrebonne, with depth as the certificate of confirmation calls for, bounded above by land of Melanie, free colored girl, and below by land of vendor. Witnessed by Pierre CHIASSON and Lewis LYNG. No. 811 3/515 On April 22, 1829 Jacques BILLIOT, free colored man, for the sum of $50.00, well and duly paid to him, by the deceased Henry S. THIBODAUX, he sold, ceded and abandoned to the succession of the aforesaid THIBODAUX, the undivided half of the right, that he (BILLIOT) has on a piece of land confirmed in the name of his deceased mother, Mariane ERICE, being number 251 in the accounts of the land office. No. 812 3/516 On April 23, 1829 Charles PURKINS and Etienne BILLIOT declared that for various good reasons, they hereby annul the sale passed March 17, 1826, recorded number 357. Witnessed by Hubert BELLANGER and J. MONSAN. No.820 On April 30, 1829 Pierre CAZEAUX received $200.00 from William BISLAND, for the balance of first payment, on a piece of land. Witnessed by Thomas R. SHIELDS. No. 829 3/521 On April 29, 1829 Alexandre VERDUN, inhabitant living in this parish, who being healthy of body and mind, as he appears to us, but well persuaded of the frailty of things human and of life, wanting further to put his affairs in order, in case of his death. First he declared that he is Alexandre VERDUN, native of what is now Jefferson Parish, born about 1 1/2 leagues below New Orleans. Secondly, he gives and bequests to Eulalie, free colored woman, child of Marie GREGOIRE, savage woman, 1/7 of all his property, upon his death. Thirdly gives and bequests to Pauline, free colored woman, child of Marie GREGOIRE, savage woman, 1/7 of all his property, upon his death. Fourthly gives and bequests to Melassie, free colored woman, daughter of Marie GREGOIRE, savage woman, 1/7 of all his property, upon his death. Fifthly gives and bequests to Ursin, free colored man, son of Marie GREGOIRE, savage woman, 1/7 of all his property, upon his death. Sixthly gives and bequests to Felicite Marguerite, free colored woman daughter of Marie GREGOIRE, savage woman, 1/7 of all his property, upon his death. . Seventhly gives and bequests to Jean Baptiste, free colored man, son of Marie GREGOIRE, 1/7 of all his property, upon his death. Eighthly he gives and bequests to Victore, free colored man, son of Marie GREGOIRE, 1/7 of all his property, upon his death. I institute and name my executor, the holder of the properties, Mr. Jacques Gabriel LEBOEUF, to whom I hereby give power to take possession, of all my properties, upon my death, until all and each of the legatees, herein above instituted, reach the age of majority, without the oldest being able to demand profit of any part of my properties, before the youngest, be a major, however my said Executor, to use the revenues of my properties, on such part thereof, which shall be necessary to maintain, dress and nourish these legatees, who shall be under the age of majority. When the youngest legatee reaches the age of majority, he shall proceed to the division of said properties, and it is understood that no part of my properties, shall ever be sold, or exchanged, but that the whole, shall remain such, as it will be, the day of my death. No. 835 On May 18, 1829 I inventoried the community property of Stanislas BOUDROT and Rosalie LEFER, his deceased wife, in conformity with a family meeting. Valued at $1,228.27 1/2. Land consisted of 7 arpens on left bank of Bayou Terrebonne, bounded above by land of S. G. MOORE and below by land of Jean COMO. No. 836 On May 13, 1829 Alexis AUTIN, fils, son-in law of the deceased Jean Pierre BERGERON, declared that he had received that day, the sum of $155.93, from Jean MARONGE, due to the said deceased, on an obligation dated August 18, 1824, Book B, Pg. 127 and 128, which mortgage he gives by these presents, withdrawing, consenting final erasure. No. 837 3/526 On June 1, 1829 appeared Toup-La-Bay, said Indian/Courteau (thick set person) of the Biloxi Nation, declares that for the considerations hereinafter specified, he sells, cedes, abandons, transfers and delivers to Alexandre VERDUN, a piece of land situated in lower part of Bayou Terrebonne, containing 5 arpens front on each side, with such depth as the certificate of confirmation calls for, bounded above and below by lands of Alexandre VERDUN for $350.00, with $100.00 paid in cash, $100.00 paid in one year, and $50.00 paid as fast as the said Courteau shall have need thereof. Courteau is the owner of the aforesaid land, by virtue of the acquision, that he made thereof, from Jean BILLIOT, by act dated August 29, 1822, which BILLIOT had concession there of. Witnessed by Evariste PORCHE and Joseph DELAPORTE. No. 841 On June 11, 1829 appeared Jacques VERRET, who declared that he had received, firstly, from the deceased Henry S. THIBODAUX, about the 12 Th of the month of April, 1825, $3,000.00, 2nd. the sum of $1,000.00, this day for a total sum of $4,000.00, which is to be deducted from the mortgage subscribed by the said deceased THIBODAUX dated March 7, 1825, for $8,500.00. Witnessed by Joseph DELAPORTE and G. LUKE. No. 842 Pg. 115. 3/531 On June 12, 1829 appeared Mrs. Brigite BELANGER, widow Henry S. THIBODAUX on the one hand, and Bannon G. THIBODAUX, her son, under the age of majority and assisted in these presents by Lemuel TANNER, his Curator, in this case, who have made the following exchanges: Mrs. THIBODAUX hereby cedes and abandons by title of exchange, with all legal warranties, to the said Bannon G. THIBODAUX, present and accepting for himself, a piece of land containing 3 arpens front on right Bank of Bayou Terrebonne, with depth as the certificate of confirmation calls for, bounded above by Michel THIBODAUX and below by land of H. Claiborne THIBODAUX. In counter exchange Bannon G. THIBODAUX hereby cedes and abandons, with all legal warranties to Mrs. THIBODAUX, present and accepting for herself, a piece of land containing 3 arpens front on each side of Bayou Terrebonne, with depth as the certificate of confirmation calls for, bounded above by land of Jacques BONVILAIN, and below by lands of Aubin C. No. 849 Pg. 128 3/536 1/2 On July 3, 1829 appeared Joseph Paul BOURGEOIS, now of the Parish of Assumption, who declared that for and in consideration of the sum of $208.00, well and duly paid to him by Joseph DELAPORTE, of this parish, he sells, cedes, conveys and delivers to Joseph DELAPORTE, a certain mortgage subscribed by Joachim PORCHE, of this parish, for $208.00 on a negro named Magloire, by act passed before Judge GUYOL, November 17, 1823, recorded Book V, Pg. 123 and 124. Witnessed by H. C. THIBODAUX and H. M. THIBODAUX. No. 851 3/538 On July 7, 1829 appeared Pierre CAZEAU, acting in the name of the partnership existing between me, Joseph GUENO and Delmas GUENO, acknowledge that I received from Joseph MONSAN, the sum of $718.50, being the amount paid for a sale, with the “Power of Redemption”, passed in this office October 3, 1829, and I hereby render and retroceed the said slaves, named Lalie and the 3 children, Wami, George and Joseph to the said Mr. Joseph MONSAN. No. 852 132, 133 3/540 On July 7, 1829 appeared Mrs. Brigite BELANGER, acting in her own name, as having right to one half of the properties, which were in community, between herself and her deceased husband, and acting also in the names of the heirs, declares that she is fully cognizant, that before his death, Mr. Henry S. THIBODAUX has sold verbally to Mrs. Joseph MONSAN, a piece of land, in Thibodauxville, for $400.00. Whereof $153.00 were paid to Mr. THIBODAUX, before his death, now in consideration of the sum of $247.00, hereby sells, cedes and abandons, with all legal warranties, to the aforesaid lady, Marie DAIGLE, wife of Joseph MONSAN, present and accepting, duly authorized to contract, for her said husband, land 70 feet front, more or less, and all the depth of the block, bounded above by street and Auguste ROGER and below by land of Mr. LANGE. Witnessed by Pierre CAZEAUX and Dr. John BELL. No. 854 Pg. 135 3/542 On August 19, 1829 John Mathurin DUPRE, of this parish, declared that for and inconsideration of the sum of $400.00, well and duly paid to himself, by Louis LAMOUREUX and Jean Louis LABADIE, of Thibodauxville, he hereby sells, cedes, abandons and delivers, herein represented by Louis LAMOUREUX, accepting in the name of the two, a certain piece of land, situated in the lower part of Bayou Terrebonne, containing 2 1/2 front on each side of the bayou, bounded above by lands of Mathurin DUPRE and below by land of Basile DUPRE, this land forming a part of a concession in the name of Jean DUPRE, present vendor is owner of the aforesaid land by virtue of the acquisition he made thereof from Jean DUPRE and his wife, by act passed in this office, under the title of “Donation between living persons”, dated August 28, 1822. Witnessed by Jerome DUGAS and John CUNNINGHAM. No. 859 Pgs. 141, 143 3/543 On August 26, 1829 Evariste PORCHE declared, that for and in consideration, hereinafter specified, he has sold, ceced, conveyed and delivered to Hypolite PORCHE, a certain piece of land, situated in this parish, containing 3 arpens front, more or less, on both sides of Bayou Terrebonne, with such depth as the certificate of confirmation calls for, bounded above by lands of Jean Jacques LEBOEUF and below by lands of Pierre DAIGLE, this land is part of a larger piece of land confirmed in the name of Nicholas LIRETTE, unto the said Hypolite PORCHE. Mr. Evariste PORCHE is owner of the aforesaid land by virtue of the acquisition that he made thereof from the Mrs. widow Henry S. THIBODAUX. Sale was made for the following considerations viz: Hypolite PORCHE obligates himself, by these presents, to work for the said Evariste PORCHE during the space of two years and four months, beginning Sep 15, 1829, his negro, a pair of oxen, a horse, two studs and one plow, and if for some reason the said Hypolite or his negro die someday, they will be obligated to replace them at length on the said lands. Hypolite PORCHE will give $50.00 a year to Mr. Evariste PORCHE and 60 barrels of Maize and 1 barrel of sugar at the expiration of each year, and as well as of the four months. Witnessed by Joseph DELAPORTE and A. H. VERRET. No. 864 Pg. 152. 3/545 On September 18, 1829 Mrs. Brigite BELANGER, widow Henry S. THIBODAUX, declared that for and in consideration of the sum of $300.00, well and duly paid to her by Aubin THIBODAUX, she sells, cedes and abandons a piece of land, situated in this parish, containing 2 arpens front, more or less, on each side of Bayou Terrebonne, with depth as the certificate of confirmation calls for, at this time bounded left side of bayou by land of Dr. DOWNING and on right side of bayou, above by land of the said Dr. DOWNING and below by cemetery. Witnessed by Augustin MONGEONT and James CARL. No. 865 Pgs. 153, 154 3/546 On September 21, 1829 Jean DUPRE, pere, and Ives NAQUIN, his wife, both of this parish, in order to repay the fidelity, the good services and good conduct of Ludevine, Mulatto, 25 years old and her son Vincent, a little quadroon 6 years old, their slaves, have freed and discharged from the yoke and ties of slavery and put from this day into the full peaceful and perpetual possession and enjoyment, of all the rights, privileges, advantages, capacities and exemptions, attached to the liberty of said Ludivine and Vincent, her son. The appearers, being further authorized to emancipate the aforesaid slaves, although under 30 years, by a resolution of the Police Jury, inconformity by an act approved Jan 31, 1827. No. 866 Pgs. 155, 156 On September 21, 1829 on the request of Melanie DUPRE, widow of Charles HENRY, I went to the dwelling formerly of the said lady and her deceased husband, for the purpose of making and taking an estimative inventory of all the properties, movable and immovable, belonging to the community, which lately existed. 1. Widow has right to half. 2. Jean Baptiste HENRY, deputy-guardian of the said child. 3. Jean Baptiste HENRY, fils, paternal uncle of the children. Appraisers Jean Baptiste DUPLANTI and Pierre Glen LEBLANC valued the estate at $1,152.50 (mostly a piece of land 3 arpens front situated on each side of Bayou Terrebonne, with depth as the certificate of confirmation calls for, bounded above by Francois HENRY). No.871 Pg. 168. 3/555 On November 2, 1829 Jean Baptiste BERGERON declared that for the consideration, hereinafter specified, he has sold, ceded, abandoned, conveyed and delivered to Mr. Joseph DARCE, a piece of land containing 1 arpen front on right side of Bayou Terrebonne, with depth as the certificate of confirmation calls for, bounded above by lands of Florestin BOUDROU, below by lands of vendor, for $400.00, payable $100.00 per year, for 4 years. Witnessed by Evariste PORCHE and Leonore CROCHET. No. 872 Pg. 168 3/555 On November 2, 1829 Leonore CROCHET declared that in consideration of, herein specified, he hereby sells, cedes, abandons and delivers to Henry Philippe DARCE, a piece of land containing 1 arpen front on right bank of Bayou Terrebonne, with depth as the certificate of confirmation calls for, bounded above by lands of the vendor and below by lands of Florentin BOUDROU, for $300.00, payable at $100.00 per year, for 3 years. Witnessed by Evariste PORCHE and Joseph E. DARCE. No. 875 Pg. 125. 3/550 On November 8, 1829 we the undersigned, Brigite BELANGER, widow Henry S. THIBODAUX, Leandre B. THIBODAUX, Aubin B. THIBODAUX, Eugenie THIBODAUX, wife of Joseph P. BOUDREAUX and authorized by her husband, Henry Michel THIBODAUX, Emilie THIBODAUX wife of Leufroy BARRAS, authorized by her husband, Elmire THIBODAUX, as well as her husband Evariste PORCHE, Henry Claiborne THIBODAUX, under the age of majority and assisted by his curator, Lemuel TANNER, all legal heirs of the deceased Henry S. THIBODAUX, declared that before his death, Henry S.THIBODAUX sold to Bannon Goforth THIBODAUX, his last son, a small negro named Frank, now 8 years old, for the sum of $212.00, which was the profit from the sale of 4 cows, 1 horse and other acts of the said deceased, whereas there has not been any written sale thereof, we hereby sell, cede and abandon to Bannon G. No. 876 Pgs. 176,177. 3/560 On November 7, 1829, appeared Elise LIRETTE and her husband Mathurin DAIGLE, for and in consideration of $1250.00 cash in hand, she sold, ceded and delivered to Jean Martin LEBLANC, Parish of Lafourche Interior, here present, and accepting and acquiring for himself, a certain piece of land, situated in this parish, a little below Bayou Cane, containing 3 1/2 arpens front on the Left bank of Bayou Terrebonne, with depth as the certificate of confirmation calls for, bounded above by land of Pierre DAIGLE and below by land of Henry LIRETTE. Witnessed by Evariste PORCHE and J. N. RATCLIFF. No. 877 Pg. 178 3/559 On November 7, 1829 Appeared Joseph Thomas BABIN who declared that in consideration of $645.00, he sold a young Negress named Oroline, about 14 years old, to Lady Irene GAUDIN, wife of Pierre LANDRY. The slave was purchased from the widow Charles GAUDIN. Witnessed by P. W. GAUTIER and J. N. RATCLIFF. No. 886 Pgs. 200, 201 3/564 On December 4, 1829 appeared Auguste BABIN and widow Henry S. THIBODAUX, who exchanged 567 41/00 acres, in consideration 5 arpens fronting and Bayou L’eau Bleue and $337.00 cash in hand. BABIN had previously sold adjoining property to Antoine CALVET to wit: 3 arpens front on Bayou Terrebonne, bounded above by land of Francis BUQUET. Witnessed by J. N. RATCLIFF and Louis VERRET. No. 887 Pgs. 201, 202 3/565 On December 4, 1829 appeared Guillaume BERGERON and widow H. S. THIBODAUX, exchanged land going back, acknowledged that since the month of June 1820, ceded to the estate of H. S. THIBODAUX land to wit: 5 1/2 arpens front on left side of Bayou Terrebonne, with depth as the certificate of confirmation calls for, bounded above by land of M. FISK and below by land of Edouard SAVOI, exchange made under private sale in 1820. Witnessed by J. N. RATCLIFF and Louis VERRET. No. 888 Pg. 203 M1/132 On December 5, 1829 On December 5, 1829 Jean Baptiste Theodore HENRY mortgage to the heirs of deceased Charles Magloire HENRY, land 3 arpens front on each side of Bayou Terrebonne, bounded above by land of Jean Baptiste Theodore HENRY and below by land of Renaud BOUDRAU, for $800.00 to Jean Baptiste HENRI, fils, as deputy-guardian of same children. No. 891 Pg. 209 M 1/135 On December 23, 1829 Michel BERNARD declared that he has received from Jacques ADAMS the sum of $350.00 he owed to Jean Baptiste BEAUSERGENT, whereas the said BERNARD gives withdrawal of the mortgage reserved on his land, dated January 1, 1823, Book B, Pgs. 20, 21. No. 892 Pg. 210 M 1/134 On December 23, 1829 Jacques ADAMS and his wife Julie NAVARE, declared that this day they received from Michel BERNARD the sum of $800.00, that Edouard RATCLIFF owed them for a piece of land. No. 895 Pgs. 217, 218 3/565 On December 24, 1829 Michel BERNARD declared that for and in consideration of the sum $1500.00 well delivered and paid by Pierre GAUTREAUX, he sold, ceded and delivered a piece of land 4 arpens front on Bayou Terrebonne, with depth as the certificate of confirmation calls for, bounded above by Marcelin BERGERON and below by land of Jean Louis HEBERT. Witnessed by Leandre B. THIBODAUX and Amos LOVE. No. 896 Pgs. 218, 219 3/569 On December 26, 1829 appeared Heloise VERRET, free woman of color, who declared whereas act passed before Judge DASPIT of Lafourche Interior dated December 24, 1829, donation between living persons, made by Lady Marie GAUDET widow Guillaume GAUBERT, Guillaume Joseph GAUBERT and Pierre Jacob GAUBERT to the said appearers, viz: Andre, Adolph, Heloise, Phelonice, Josephine, Florestine, and un born child, all children of Andre GAUBERT (natural father), so each could have their part in succession of said Andre GAUBERT. Heloise VERRET hereby accepts the said donation for the said children, by these presents. Witnessed by Louis VERRET and Joseph DELAPORTE. Widow has 1/4, Guillaume Joseph GAUBERT, brother of the deceased, 9/16, Pierre Jacob GAUBERT 3/16 as half brother of said Andre GAUBERT deceased, 6 children issuing from marriage or cohabitation of Andre GAUBERT deceased and Heloise VERRET free colored woman, with 7th. child not born yet, Andre, Adolphe, Heloise, Philonise, Josephine and Florville. On January 19, 1830 upon request of Charles DUPRE, I was transported to the dwelling of Charles DUPRE, for making an estimative inventory of the property, movable and Immovable, debts and credits, belonging to the community of Charles DUPRE and Constance Rose BOUDREAUX deceased. No. 901 Pgs. 227-229 3/571 On January 25, 1830 Nicolas MALBROUGH declared that he sold, ceded and delivered a piece of land to Mathurin DAIGLE, about 3/4 league from Bayou Lafourche, on right side of Bayou Terrebonne, containing 1 1/2 arpens front, with depth as the certificate of confirmation calls for, bounded above by land of vendor and below land of widow Mrs. HAMMOND, for $1,000.00. No. 904 Pgs. 231, 232. 3/576 On February 10, 1830 Stanislas FONTENAU declared for and in consideration of the sum $400.00, well and duly paid to him by Urbain PICOUT, sells land, accepting a certain Negress named Rosalie, about 25 years old, unto Urbain PICOUT. Witnessed by Joseph DELAPORTE and August H. VERRET. No. 905 Pgs. 233, 234 3/575 On February 11, 1830 Mrs. Emerante CLERE wife of Stanislas FONTENEAU declared that for $263.25 she sells, cedes and delivers a young mulatto named Virginia, about 10 years of age. THIBODAUX, and below by land of the vendor. The piece of land here sold forms part of a large tract sold to Leufroy BARRAS by Mr. Jacques VERRET by act dated October 17, 1818. Witnessed by L. B. No. 933 Pgs. 268,269,270,271 On April 29, 1830 Judge Leufroy BARRAS was transported to the home of Andre GAUBERT, deceased residence and there at the request of Heloise VERRET, free colored woman, with whom the said GAUBERT lived, to make an inventory of properties of the deceased. Judge BARRAS named Francisco RODRIGUEZ and Jacques LABIT appraisers, in presence of William RODDY, Jr. and John CLARK, and assisted with, and in the presence of Louis VERRET, deputy guardian of the minor children of the said Heloise VERRET, to wit; one piece of land about three miles below Bayou Cane, two arpens front on each bank of Bayou Terrebonne, bounded above by land of R. W. WALKER and below by land of Heloise VERRET, with Fifteen arpens depth on each bank, valued at a total of $658.75. No. 943 Pgs. 282,283 3/595 On June 1, 1830 Auguste ROGER, of Thibodauxville, declares that for and in consideration of the sum of $2,000.00, well and duly paid to him, before passing of these presents, he hereby sells, cedes, abandons and delivers to Henry M. No. 944 Pgs. 283-285 3/596 On June 2, 1830 Hubert BELLANGER, inhabitant of this parish, declared that he had sold, ceded and abandoned to Pierre GAUTIER, here present, six lots of land, situated in the town of “New Port”, established on the upper part of the land, of the said BELLANGER and adjoining Bellanger Canal, being numbers 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7, according to a plan made by James L. CAROTHERS, dated May 1830, each lot has 70 feet front, with 80 feet in depth, being also on the land confirmed in the name of Etienne BILLIOT, who sold it to Henry S. No. 947 Pg. 279 M. 1/139 On May 23, 1830 widow Nicolas LIRETTE, who declared that she had received at various times, from Jean Baptiste HEBERT, the sum of $260.00, in consideration of the sale of land passed February 28, 1829, giving by these presents general acquittance thereof. RATCLIFF a certain piece of land situated about five miles from Bellanger Canal, descending, containing 5 arpens front on each side of Bayou Terrebonne, with the depth of 10 arpens, on each side, bounded above by land of Joseph BOUDREAUX and below by land of Jerome DUPRE, being part of the concession of Jean DUPRE, pere, the whole sold without any reservations, except 4 arpens of maize, for $3,000.00. No. 961 Pgs. 306, 307 3/613 On June 22, 1830 Jean Louis LABADIE, of the Parish of Lafourche Interior, declared that for $250.00, paid by Louis LAMOUREUX, of Thibodauxville, he hereby sells, cedes, abandons and delivers the undivided half of a piece of land, the said LABADIE acquired in community, with the said purchaser, Jean Mathurin DUPRE, containing 2 1/2 arpens front on each side of Bayou Terrebonne, with a depth of 10 arpens, on each side. No. 962 Pgs. 307-309 M/152 On June 22, 1830 Ortance LEBLANC, wife of Jean Baptiste RICHARD, duly authorized by her husband, also present, declared that whereas Jean Baptiste RICHARD, her husband, had sold to Adelaine BABIN, inhabitant of the Parish of St. James, by act passed before Judge Carlier DONTREMEN, now deceased, dated December 29, 1821, a piece of land situated in the Parish of Ascention, about six miles below entrance of Bayou Lafourche, bounded above by land of Joseph DAIGLE and below by land of Armogene LEBLANC, 2 arpens and 10 fathoms front on the Mississippi River, by depth of 40 arpens closing lines, for $2,000.00, she formally renounces all the rights of mortgage and privileges, that the law gives her on the property of her said husband. 1. For the restitution of her dowry, or for the reinvestment of the dotal properties that she brought in the marriage. 2.
