Brenda Kaekewae
SACKETT - Reuben T. 1821 LA -1864 New Orleans, LA md ca 1847 Rapides Par., LA to Rhoda LEMOINE 1833 LA -1865 TX. They had 5 known daughters, all at home on 1860 Winn Par., LA U.S. Census: 1) Martha Ann 1848 TX -1912 LA md ca 1867 Winn Par., LA to Peter CHELETTE 1840-1896; 2) Mary 1852-1935 md ca 1870 Grant Par., LA to John LASYONE 1823-1910; 3) Elizabeth Emeline 1855-1889 md ca 1870 Grant Par., LA to John Allen "Grancer" FAIRCLOTH 1840 Henry Co., AL - 1924 Black Creek Community, Grant Par., LA; 4) Teat 1858-1924 md 1st ca 1875 Grant Par., LA, Francis Marion THOMPSON 1847-? md 2nd ca 1890 Thomas CUSTIS 1858-1924; 5) Lou 1860-? md ca 1876 Jackson "Jack" THOMPSON 1856-? Why does Reuben and oldest child appear on the 1850 census of LA or TX ? Would think that Rhoda would be a native of Avoyelles Parish, but she does not appear in Baptism Books of St. Paul's Catholic Church. There were other French families in this area around what is now Montgomery and Verda. Were they outcasts from the Avoyelles groups ? or Had they received land grants in that area ? Who was Rhoda visiting in TX at the time of her death ? The Grant article stated she was visiting "relatives". Is there a U.S. Tract Book in the courthouse at Winnfield that would show the coordinates (Twp./Sec./Rng.) of where this family resided ? Was Reuben the son of Reuben T. or David F. SACKETT ? An article on the CHELETTE family appearing in two issues of the now defunct Grant Diggins' periodical (Grant Parish Genealogical Society) states that Reuben is the son of Reuben and a Catahoula and Rapides Parish civil suits in Probate Court show these persons receiving ownership of propery claimed by the older Reuben T. in 1811, but was bought at Sheriff's Sale in 1829 by David F. SACKETT, so that poses a possibility it could be either one of these men. Were Reuben and David brothers ? Father and Son ? All responses answered. Thanks [May 22, 1998]

I am reseaching the Alson JONES famiy of Cypress Creek area of Winn Parish. Alson Jones was married to Malinda (Does anyone have any documentation that would PROVE Malinda's maiden name?) I am descended from their second son, Elisha Jones. Elisha married first Sene (or Lucinda?) McCarty (see query #4) probably in/around Jasper Co. MS. After her death here in Winn Parish, he married (2) Louisa Faith d/o James and Elizabeth Faith, whose husband (_???_Hodge) had not returned from the Civil War (see query #3). Then he married (3) Lou Barrett who had previously married (1) --???__Temple, (2) James Box, and then (3) Elisha Jones. Does anyone have any pictures they would let me copy on my scanner? I would love to have a picture of my gggdf Elisha Jones. [29 Dec 1997]

Please read my story and if you can help in any way please contact me. I would desperately love to have some pictures or copies of any documents of any kind of my McCarty family. Thank you. I am trying to trace the family of Thomas and Elizabeth HODGES who was in the 1860 Winn Parish Census. (Thomas was born abt 1807 TN and Elizabeth abt 1811 KY.) One of their children is believed to be the husband of Louisa B. FAITH. Louisa (born 2 Aug 1846 GA) was the daughter of James and Elizabeth Faith. The story was: Louisa's husband went off to the Civil War when their first child was only 3 weeks old and he was never heard from again. The child (born: 16 Apr 1862) was named James Thomas Hodges. Louisa married second Elisha JONES as his second wife. Elisha, Louisa, and James Thomas are all buried at the Cypress Creek Cemetery as is Elisha's third wife: Lou Barrett-Temple-Box-Jones. Elisha's first wife was Sene McCarty, (see query #4). [29 Dec 1997]

I am researching the family of David Camile HEAD of the Sikes Community of Winn Parish. He was born Mar 1845 in? Morgan Co. GA. We have been told he was the son of James P. Head, who died in Morgan Co. GA in 1857 and his wife Permelia STEVENS Head. She came to Winn Parish with the children. David "Millie" Head's wife was Palistine VARNELL, the daughter of William P. Varnell. She was born Sep 1845 in Rankin Co. MS. One of her brothers changed the spelling of his name to FARNELLl, and some of the se descendents moved to Texas. I am very much interested in getting copies of any records or pictures you may have. [29 Dec 1997]

I am researching the family of Robert WOMACK and Wrizopa (SOUTHERN). I am partically interested in making contact with anyone that has any Southern information on those families living in Winn and/or Jackson parishes. Wrizopa was suppose to have a rother named Dan or Daniel. I have a picture of Robert & Wrizopa that I have placed in the Winn Parish archives and I have also written a short history of this family and linked it to the Winn Parish Links on the index page. I would love to have more information on either family and/or copies of other pictures and/or documentation. I have this Womack lineage back to the 1600's, but need help in putting together the lines foreward. And really need help in finding who Wrizopa's parents were. We all suspect there was a lot of Indian blood there. Take a look and read the history. Corrections and additions appreciated. [29 Dec 1997]
