Library Policy
On May 13, 2000 the Winn Genealogical and Historical Association met and approved the following policies (added to previously approved policy) for the WGHA Library.
On Aug. 6, 2005 the library policy was reviewed. The new policy was tabled until the next meeting (Oct. 1, 2005) for approval.

GENERAL POLICY:
- No book(s) or material can be removed from the library room without being checked out first.
- Any books/materials over 50 years may not be checked out. High cost items, fragile items, and specific material designated as reference material may not be checked out. Some materials may be restricted from checkout by the author or donator.
- Absolutely no food or drink is allowed in the library. (Except for the Librarian and/or assistant on extra opening days.)
- Librarians table is setup outside the door at meetings.
- The WGHA does not purchase "surname" books, as being about one surname genealogy only. We do accept these as donations to the library.
- Assistant librarians may be available for 1 hour work periods during each meeting time. Hours available:
- 12:00 - 1:00 PM - Business meeting - library closed (if business is short, library will be reopened until 2:00 PM)
- 1:00 Guest speaker - library closed
- 2:00 - 3:30/4:00 (availability of volunteers)
- The person checking out a book is responsible for that book/material. You must be a member to check out books and be responsible for the checking out of that book/material.
- You must read and sign first sign the library policy sheet before checking out books. These sheets will be kept in the library file cabinet.
- Only 4 pieces of books/material per month can be checked out per membership.
- Books may not be checked out for more than two months.
- Members that are unable to come to the library themselves, may borrow books by mail. The cost of mailing will be for the first book and add $5.00 for the second book per mailing. The member is responsible for the return postage.
- Only members in the United States may borrow books by mail.
- The rate for overdue books to be $00.25 fine per day.
- Books may be returned to any officer of the WGHA. If the book is overdue, fines must be paid at that time.
- In an emergency, arrangements can be made with the librarian on a case-by-case basis.
- Overdue books that are not returned after 2 months must be paid for at the repurchase price.
- The member will no longer be able to check out any books/material, until the membership votes to reestablish this privilege. The member will not receive their journal until the book is either returned and all fines paid and/or the repurchase price paid.
