Introduction
And for every nation We have appointed religious ceremonies, that they may mention the Name of Allah over the beast of cattle that He has given them for food. And your Ilah is One Ilah, so you must submit to Him Alone.(Surah 22:34)
This year we decided to distribute the qurbani in North western province as we noticed excessive qurbani’s going to tsunami affected areas. We chose 6 villages Kekirawa 26 km from Anuradapura. Two of these villages consist of refugees from Jaffna and Mannar.
Slaughter and packaging
We brought and slaughtered the goats at S.M. Farms (pvt) Ltd situated at Kekirawa road, Ganewalpola. The live weight of all the goats was 553kg or an average of 27kg per goat. We estimated the net weight of mutton around 270kg. Yet on my estimation it was around 220kg. Therefore we decided to make 280 parcels each weighing 750g (app).
