It is said that he was given land in Kal-Eliya (a Village situated in the present Mirigama Electorate in the Gampaha District) & made the Village Headman for the area somewhere around mid 1600AD by the Dutch Administrators in appreciation of his service rendered to them against the expulsion of the Portuguese who were occupying the low country of Sri Lanka.
His son (Minalebbe Kandu) succeeded him, thereafter by his Grand Son (Okkas Kandu) and so forth for eleven (11) generations spanning over a period of Two Hundred & Fifty (250) years uninterrupted until the Headman System was abolished.
The details pertaining to the date of appointment, the exact titles held & the extent of the areas which came under the administration of each individual had been documented and handed over from generation to generation for twelve generations which has unfortunately been misplaced. However Kal-Eliya was a part that came under their Administration.
He had been appointed as a Peace Officer (Muladeni) by British Administrators. He is said to have had a very lucrative business in Kegalle. Hence he was known as the Kegalle Rajjuruvo (King of Kegalle) by the people of Kegalle.
Mr M S S G Marikar JP (1916) of Nattandiya
He was the Village Council Chairman and the Commissioner for Oaths He was also a Justice of the Peace
He is the first Muslim to qualify as a Doctor in Kal-Eliya.
It is also worth mentioning that he preserved the Genealogy up to the ninth generation and was handed over to his son (Dr Fazly Mowjood) before his death, which was a great help to prepare this family tree.
Together with his brother (Proctor A. H. L. A. Saleem) he donated the land to build the Muslim Ladies Arabic College at Kal-Eliya and was one of the founder members of the Muslim Ladies Arabic College.
The Road leading to the Arabic College has been named as Abdul Cader Mawatha as a mark of respect to him
He is the first Muslim to qualify as a Lawyer in Kal-Eliya
He is the founder president of the Muslim Scholarship Fund as well as a founder member of the Ceylon Baithul Mal Fund and the Muslim Ladies Arabic College at Kal-Eliya for which he donated the land together with his brother Mr A. H. L. Abdul Cader
Mr M. I. M Shareef (1913-1968) of Warakapola.
The property of Al-Madhrasathush-Shareefiyyah of Warakapola which was owned and administrated by the family was Wakfed by his two sons, Dr. M . S . M . Mihlar JP and Mr. M. S . M . Fareed in December 1999 (21st Ramadhan 1420) to the Warakapola Grand Jummah Mosque. He was a Registrar of Muslim Marriages until he was paralysed in 1965.
He is the founder President of the Horagolla Mosque that is now known as Masjid Al Hudha in Horagolla, Warakapola. In 1975 when he was putting up his house in Horagolla Warakapola he had the intention of building a mosque, as there wasn’t a mosque in that area. In order to accomplish his desire, with the generous contribution of the community a small plot of land was purchased in 1977 and the mosque was built in 1979. He was appointed as a Justice of the Peace for the Judicial District of Kegalle in 1983.
Lakariya JP (1945) of Eheliyagoda.
He donated land at Kalavitagoda Eheliyagoda in 1995 to build Masjidul Muthkeen and was appointed as its founder president. He has donated his land in 1995 to build a roadway to the adjoining Village Asgangula South that had been named as Asgangula Mawatha. He was appointed as a Justice of the Peace for the Judicial District of Ratnapura in 1984.
