Ayling, Augustus Davis (b. 1840) — also known as Augustus D. Ayling — of Concord, Merrimack County, N.H.; Centerville, Barnstable County, Mass. Born in Boston, Suffolk County, Mass., July 28, 1840. Son of William L. Ayling and Margaret (Hurley) Ayling; married 1869 to Elizabeth F. Cornish. Republican. Served in the Union Army during the Civil War; Adjutant General of New Hampshire, 1879-1907. Member, Grand Army of the Republic; Loyal Legion; Freemasons; Knights Templar. Death 9 Mar 1918 in Centerville, Barnstable, Massachusetts
