WILLIAM J. BRIGGS

Briggs, William J. (1834-1887) — of Taunton, Bristol County, Mass. Born February 2, 1834. Served in the Union Army during the Civil War; member of Massachusetts state house of representatives, 1886-87; died in office 1887. Member, Grand Army of the Republic. Fell to his death while descending a ladder from the roof of the North Pleasant Street school house, Taunton, Bristol County, Mass., August 13, 1887.
