Business executive; member of Massachusetts state house of representatives, 1918-19; member of Massachusetts state senate, 1921-22, 1923-24; Lieutenant Governor of Massachusetts, 1925-29; Governor of Massachusetts, 1929-31; defeated, 1930. Congregationalist. Died October 9, 1950. Interment at Highland Cemetery, Norwood, Norfolk County, Mass.
