Chandler (Bowen) Stowell; son-in-law of John Thomas Averill; married, November 13, 1873, to Emma Clara Averill.
Republican. U.S. Representative from Virginia 4th District, 1871-77; Virginia Republican state chair, 1872-73;
delegate to Republican National Convention from Virginia, 1876; founder, secretary-treasurer, Fox River Pulp Co.,
Atlas Paper Co., Duluth Iron Steel Co.; president of Manufacturers Bank of West Duluth, 1889-1895. Episcopalian.
Died in Amherst, Hampshire County, Mass., April 27, 1922. Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Bronx, N.Y.
