Industrial Commissioner, 1929-33; U.S. Secretary of Labor, 1933-45. Female. Episcopalian. Member, American Civil
Liberties Union. First woman to serve in the Cabinet. Died in New York City, N.Y., May 14, 1965. Interment at
Cemetery on River Road, Newcastle, Maine.
