Hanson was incorporated in 1820 from the town of Pembroke (which was incorporated from the town of Duxbury in 1711). The town, located on the south shore of Massachusetts in Plymouth County, was previously the "West Parish" of Pembroke, and was named in honor of newspaper publisher and U.S. Senator Alexander Contee Hanson of Maryland.

Now entering its 8th year as a website, the USGenWeb Hanson project is receiving a total makeover!

Please excuse any formating mistakes as the site transitions to its more modern look.
