A wonderful new book has been released, Jean A. Douillette's Lakeville, Massachusetts Gravestone Inscriptions, 1711-2003: A complete compilation of epitaphs from the thirty-one known cemeteries in the Town of Lakeville. This book provides the inscriptions (and often descriptions of gravestone art or the physical state of the stone) of every surviving gravestone in Lakeville prior to 2003, and also includes detailed maps for locating these stones. This would make a wonderful addition to the library of those interested in Lakeville history or genealogy!

I am working on transcribing all of the Lakeville cemetery inscriptions from Charles Thatcher's Old Cemeteries of Southeastern Massachusetts (compiled in the late 1800s, published by the Middleborough Library, 1995) and including several mentioned in A Guide to Massachusetts Cemeteries (D.A. Lambert, NEHGS, 2002). This can be found in Cemeteries.
