She finished her education at the Spencer high school and had taught in the public school of the town for  the thirty-two years. Her first appointment was as assistant to Miss Eliza Keegan at the

Maple street
building. When the
Early street
building was erected she was made principal of the building, and when that school was closed she was transferred to the
East Main street
school, where she taught the upper grades. She was transferred to the principal ship of the
Pleasant street
building.

Miss Casey's mother having died when her children were all comparatively young, and Elizabeth being the only girl, the heavy responsibility and burdens of the household were thrust upon her at an early age. These she sustained until the end of her life in a manner to compel admiration for her keen appreciation of, and willingness to perform, the humble though important duties of the household. She was deeply attached to her brothers, as they likewise were to her, and the influence of her example and wise direction has been, admittedly, an important factor in the moulding of their successful careers.
