He learned the tanner's and shoemaker's trade of Deacon Thomas Sanderson of Whately. He was a man of marked characteristics, a close reasoner.

He was married to Miriam FRARY (daughter of Eleazer FRARY and Miriam KELLOGG) on 9 Oct 1796. Miriam FRARY was born on 3 Sep 1779 in Whately, Franklin, Massachusetts.2 Stephen ORCUTT and Miriam FRARY had the following children:

A potter by trade, resided in Troy, N.Y.

He was married to Jane GILES.4 Eleazer ORCUTT and Jane GILES had the following children:

Resided in Troy, N.Y., Whately and Conway, Mass.

14. Miriam Frary ORCUTT.

She was married to William BAKER (son of William BAKER and Hannah FRARY) on 31 May 1821.11 William BAKER was born on 31 May 1821 in Conway, Franklin, Massachusetts.12 Miriam Frary ORCUTT and William BAKER had the following children:

15. Eleazer Frary ORCUTT was born on 1 Nov 1825 in Conway, Franklin, Massachusetts.13 He died on 25 Oct 1889 in Conway, Franklin, Massachusetts.14 History of the Town of Whately, Mass., 1661 - 1899, by james M. Crafts, by D. L. Crandall, Mann's Block, Orange, Mass., 1899. p. 537.

He in some respects was a marked man, was large and of commanding appearance, with massive brain and a pleasant countenance, showing manliness and superior ability, with keen eyes that seemed to read those he came in contact with. He had a locgical as well as discriminating mind, a great political manager with a wide acquaintance with the people of western Massachusetts, but more particularly in Franklin and Hampshire couties; argumentative, careful in his statements, with a memory that never let go anything that he desired to retain, generous to a fault, kind-hearted, always ready to assist the needy. In many ways a model man, yet not exempt from faults, but still a noble man, a public benefactor, a good talker and an excellent citizen.

She resided at her pleasant home at Whately Center and is tenderly cared for by her daughter Mrs. Elder. Eleazer Frary ORCUTT and Lydia Ann GRAVES had the following children:

17. Isaac P. BAKER was born on 19 Dec 1844 in Conway, Franklin, Massachusetts.19

He was married to Julia E. NYE.20

18. Lois Wright BAKER was born on 19 Dec 1850 in Conway, Franklin, Massachusetts.21

She was married to Gilbert Wheeler ARMS (son of Franklin ARMS and Mary WILLIAMS) on 24 Apr 1872.22 Gilbert Wheeler ARMS was born on 20 Jun 1846 in Conway, Franklin, Massachusetts.23 He died on 29 Aug 1898.24

19. William Baker ORCUTT was born on 11 Jan 1852 in Conway, Franklin, Massachusetts.25,26 He died on 24 Mar 1897.27

Adopted daughter of Otis Kingsley. She died on 15 Oct 1893.30 William Baker ORCUTT and Mary Elizabeth KINGSLEY had the following children:

No children. Lizzie Ellen HUBBARD was born on 6 Apr 1860 in South Deerfield, Franklin, Massachusetts.36

She was married to Ryland C. HOWES.39

22. Ella Louise ORCUTT was born on 4 Oct 1871 in Conway, Franklin, Massachusetts.40,41

She was married to George A. ELDER.42
