| Dreadful AccidentGeorge Everett, a youngster about twelve years of age, son of Leonard Everett, Esq., of Canton, in this state, fell from one of the cars in the Columbia Railroad, about six miles from Philadelphia, on the 11th inst., directly across one of the rails, and was instantly killed by the cars passing over his body. |

| Capt. Paine, of Hallowell, accidentally fell overboard from the steamer Macdonough, in Portland harbor, on Wednesday last ; he was rescued, however, before life was extinct. |
