| Brightly shod runners, buffalo robes, gallant drivers holding reins over frisky steeds, while fair damsels sat beside them in the glowing moonlight, helped to swell the big party at Cummingsville Friday night, on the occasion of the testimonial benefit to Mr. Timothy Bowen.
James H. Doherty was the floor director., and Edward H. Walsh was his assistant. The aids were Daniel Lafferty, Patrick P. Kerrigan, John Madden, James Burke, Frank M. Doherty, John E. Doherty, Patrick E. Greany, and Patrick Doherty. The committee of arrangements consisted of: A.A. Doherty, T.W. Kenney, Patrick Daily, Eugene Malloy, Lewis Breslin, John Ring, Michael H. McDonald, William Roach, Maggie Roach, Emma Lord, Mr. Henry J. Crosby and lady, Bernard Foley and wife, Thomas F. Kenney and lady, and many others. |
| John J. O'Brien, a well-known young Woburn man and who was at one time one of the best baseball players in the city, died this morning at the home of his parents on Church Street. He has been in poor health for some time. |
| The funeral of the late John O'Brien took place this morning, and was largely attended by relations and friends the Celtic Association, of which the deceased was a member being well represented in the solemn assemblage. There were many beautiful floral tributes, the offerings of love and esteem, and on the conclusion of the services at the church the remains were [borne] to Calvary Cemetary, Montvale, followed by a long cortege of carriages.
