The Arlington Advocate, 24 October 1898

A bogus umbrella mender called at 24 Addison street, on Wednesday, and Mrs. H. T. Martin gave the man a valuable umbrella to mend. He pretended to have his apparatus for mending on an adjacent street and both man and umbrella disappeared and have not been heard of since.
A lad so small no one would think he could be up to such a trick, entered Stickney's hardware store by a rear window, Sunday afternoon, and helped himself to a rifle and some other things. He was discovered by Mr. Dinsmore, switchman at the center, and made to return the goods.
