The Arlington Advocate, 14 April 1899

Patrick Quinn, living near North Cambridge, and employed at the Squire factory, died at the Mass. General Hospital Friday evening, April 7th, from the effects of his injuries received on the railroad during the afternoon. Quinn was walking on the track with his little son, eight years old, when he was struck by the train leaving Arlington centre at 4:50 for Boston. The child was not harmed, but the engine struck the man with great force and he was thrown a long distance inflicting fatal injuries. The train was stopped and he was taken to Boston and thence to the hospital, where it was thought at first he would recover, but he died a few hours later as noted. The accident occurred, as is estimated, just over the line in Cambridge. The case is an unfortunate one, the mother being destitute, with a family of three children and with an approaching sickness. Quinn formerly worked for Selectman Crosby.
