The Arlington Advocate, 19 August 1905
| A singular accident occurred on Pleasant street, on last Saturday afternoon. There were heavy clouds in the sky, but so separated that there was bright sunlight shining through and no rain was falling. Out of what might be called a clear sky, a bolt of lightning flashed and William McGrath, who was riding a bicycle on the street, found himself pitched violently to the ground, stunned by the bolt and bruised by his fall, though not seriously. The bolt had hit the wheel, twisting it into a fantastic shape, but causing no further damage. It was a close call. |
