The Arlington Advocate, 18 August 1906

Assistant engineer George E. Ahern, in the employ of the town departments, returns to his duties on Monday next, after a two weeks' leave of absence. He has enjoyed his vacation at Centre Harbor, N.H.
There are those who will go on summer vacation, whether the grocer and butcher are paid or taxes provided for. This is a feature of the spirit of the times. It is the greed of self indulgence and gratification, no matter who pays for it, and is the seed sowing of anarchist tendencies — the desire to possess and enjoy that which has not been earned and which belongs to our neighbor. It is not honest nor brave, and is often filching from those who are straight forward and working hard to improve their condition and be useful and helpful members of the community.
