MRS. CORRIGAN ENTERTAINED

THE WOMAN'S CLUB OF
MONTVALE HAS MEETING

———
   The Woman's club of Montvale met last evening at the home of Mrs. James Corrigan, Pine street. During the evening whist was played and phonograph selections enjoyed. Several of the guests rendered vocal and instrumental selections. The party broke up at a late hour and the guests voted thanks to the hostess for one of the most pleasant evenings ever enjoyed.
   Among those present were; Mrs. M. Louder, Mrs. Annie Cogan, Mrs. Nellie Peterson, Mrs. Elizabeth McMann, Mrs. Agnes McGowan, Mrs. Eve Cogan, Mrs. Tessie McDonough, Mrs. John Brennan, Mrs. James Corrigan, Miss Hannah Dowd, Miss Etta Rafferty, Miss Minnie Rafferty, Miss Minnie Scanlon, Miss Annie Scanlon, Miss Catherine Golden, Miss Annie McDermott.

I.O.O.F., M.U. SMOKE TALK
———
   A smoke talk is to follow the meeting of Woburn Lodge, I.O.O.F., M.U., this evening. The talk is to be by one of the members of the lodge and will be of a humorous nature. This is the first of a series of entertainments which are being planned in connection with the regular meetings, and at the meeting Wednesday evening, March 19, there will be an interesting talk on electricity with an exhibition of modern electrical appliances which will be of interest to all. It is planned to make this an open meeting to which friends of the members will be invited. There is also underway, plans for an entertainment and social sometime in May, the date to be announced later.

IN NEW HOME

   Justice Edward F. Johnson has taken up his residence in the old Johnson homestead on Arlington Rd., which has been completely remodelled for his occupancy. He is moving his household from his former residence on Highland street, today.
CITY JOTTINGS
   Mr. and Mrs. John Turner are receiving congratulations on a new arrival at their home yesterday.
   A hearing is to be given Special Officer Keating on charges preferred by Mayor Blodgett, in the Municipal building, tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock.
   Miss Etta F. Curtis of 125 Pearl street is spending a few days of her vacation with her friend Miss Edna F. Dobbins.
   The regular rehearsal of the St. Charles Minstrel Show will be held this evening.
   Walter Sylvester, the popular gateman at Green street crossing is convalescent after a severe attack of the grippe.
   Congratulations are forthcoming to Mr. and Mrs. John J. Ahern on the arrival of a daughter at their home on Stoddard street yesterday.
   See and hear the Hardscratch children in “Breezy Point,” Miss Helen Sylvester and Alice Bulfinch add much to the amusement of the Woman's Club dramatics.
   Miss Jennie Smith is visiting her sister, Miss Edith Lillian Smith at Winthrop, today.
   M. W. Grimes of Princeton, was in town last evening.
   Edward Armstrong has accepted a position with Murray Brothers on Prospect street.
   Dr. Norton and E. P. Fox are the Woburn representatives at the Congress of Congregational churches which meets in Worcester today and tomorrow.

The death of Rebecca M. Scott occurred Saturday afternoon at her late residence, 313 Crescent street, after an illness of five months. Deceased was 69 years of age, and she resided here for a long period. She is survived by a husband, William M. Scott, five daughters and two sons.

The funeral was held from her late home yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock. Services were conducted by Rev. Roscoe L. Greene, and selections were rendered by the Clarion quartet. The body was sent this morning to Halifax, N. S. for interment. Funeral arrangements were in charge of Undertaker George W. Osborn.
