| Fruit Store Robbed of Close to $100 During the Night
Cuneo & Halliday Store in Centre Visited Last Night. Hole Cut in Rear Door |
| The cash draw was looted and close to $100 in cash taken from the fruit store of Cuneo & Halliday, some time, last night, after entrance had been gained from the rear, where a hole had been cut through a door.
John Halliday made the discovery this morning when he opened the store. A hole had been whittled through the door, evidently by some one who knew the premises, close to the bolt. The hole was large enough for a hand to be inserted, and the bolt was then drawn. The chips from the hole indicated a jacknife [sic] was used. The money was kept in a special box with the bills in it. A draw with more than $10 in silver was untouched. The police have been notified. |
