STEPHEN B. MULLEN FOUND DEAD AT HOME |
Death by accidental illuminating gas poisoning was the verdict of Medical Examiner Marshall L. Alling following an investigation of the death of Stephen B. Mellen [sic], 68, in his home at 8 Everett street last night. Detective Captain James J. Kennedy assisted in the investigation.
Mellen was found dead in a chair in a small room in his house by other members of the family. It was found that a gas jet was slightly open. Mellen had been suffering from heart trouble for some time. Mr. Mullen was especially well known in St. Peter's parish, having resided there for 19 years. For the past six years he had been a resident of the Belvidere section. He was a member of the FOE, 228. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Laura (Revere) Mullen; three daughters, Mrs. Elmer Rock, Mrs. Walter Broderick and Miss Mildred Mullin [sic], two sons, Alfred J. of Boston and Bernard S. Mullen of this city. |

INJURIES PROVE FATAL Matthew McPherson, Victim of Fall, Dies
at St. John's Hospital |
Matthew McPherson of 211 Hale street, died yesterday at St. John's
hospital from injuries sustained when he fell down a flight of stairs in his home early Sunday morning.
He had been employed on the Boston & Maine railroad as a carpenter for nearly 50 years, and his death will be mourned by a wide circle of friends. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Clara (MacEachern) MacPherson; one daughter, Clara; and one brother, Angus MacPherson, the two former of Lowell and the latter of South Boston. |
