WOBURN DOGS WIN AT ANNUAL FIELD DAY |
At the seventh annual foxhound field day trial held by the Woburn Foxhunters Association at the Bennett Farm, Billerica, on Labor Day, Harry Sutherland's dog Paul was awarded second prize and J. E. Nedger Boutwell's dog Big Boy was awarded fifth prize. The other winners were:
1st, Henry Wadleight, Charlestown, Mass., with Ginger.
3rd, F. F. Palmer of Ayer, Mass., with Ranger.
4th, Alton Gallagher, Cochituate, Mass., with Girlie.
At 6 a.m., Monday, 105 hounds were cut loose and immediately scented a fox. This fox was soon forced to cover, but shortly afterwards another one was started. By ten o'clock four foxes had been forced to take to ground.
At 11 a.m. the 400 men and women were treated to a light lunch which was greatly enjoyed.
In addition to the five prizes, a large cup known as the Jitney Cup was donated by W. A. F. Estes of Quincy, and formerly of Woburn. The cup must be won two years before it can be held permanently. |
