JOHN J. AHERN DIED SUDDENLY LAST EVENING

   John J. Ahern, 60, husband of the late Mrs. Catherine (Manuel) Ahern, a resident of Woburn the greater part of his life and the owner and proprietor of the well known South End restaurant Jake's Cafe located at the corner of Main and Conn Streets, this city, died suddenly last night at the home of his daughter Mrs. John McKeering, 111 Main Street, Woburn, the victim of a heart attack. Mr. Ahern had not been well for the past few days, but his death was entirely unexpected and comes as a shock to his wide circle of friends.
   He was born in Cambridge, Mass., the son of the late David and Mary Ahern, but had lived the greater part of his life in Woburn where for years he was a well known painting contractor, before entering the restaurant business. In his youth he was a well known athlete and was active in boxing and wrestling circles.
   His wife, Mrs. Catherine (Manuel) Ahern, died twenty-eight years ago and he leaves one daughter Mrs. Mary McKeering, and three sisters Mrs. Augustus Westland of Woburn, Mrs. Catherine Sullivan of Winchester and Mrs. Garnet Gamester of Cambridge. Several nieces and nephews also survive him.
   The funeral will be held on Monday morning, February 12, from the home of his sister Mrs. Augustus Westland, 74 Main Street, Woburn, at 8 a.m. and a High Mass of Requiem will be celebrated at the Immaculate Conception Church, Winchester, at 9 o'clock. Interment will follow at Calvary cemetery, East Woburn.

   Miss Catherine McLaughlin of 107 Main St., Woburn, is resting comfortably at the Choate Memorial Hospital, Woburn, following an appendix operation performed there Monday this week by Dr. Daniel L. Joyce.
   Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Johnson of 141 Burlington Street, this city, are in Florida for several weeks. They arrived in Miami last Sunday.
   Willis L. Varney, formerly of the firm of Smith and Varney, is now located at 468 Main Street, (T. J. Martin Co. store) opposite Strand Theatre Watch repairing.

   The funeral of John J. Ahern, 60, husband of the late Mrs. Catherine (Manuel) Ahern, a resident of Woburn the greater part of his life and proprietor of the well known south end restaurant, Jake's Cafe, located at the corner of Main and Conn Streets, was held from the home of his sister Mrs. Augustus Westland, 74 Main Street, Woburn, at 8 a.m. and a High Mass of Requiem was celebrated at the Immaculate Conception Church, Winchester, at 9 o'clock. Following the services interment was at Calvary cemetery, East Woburn.
   Mr. Ahern passed away at the home of his daughter Mrs. John McKeering, 111 Main Street, Woburn, suddenly last Thursday night the victim of a heart attack.
   He was born in Cambridge, Mass., the son of the late David and Mary Ahern, but had lived the greater part of his life here in Woburn, where before entering the restaurant business he was a well known painting contractor. A well known athlete he was active in wrestling and boxing circles during his younger life.
   His wife, Mrs. Catherine (Manuel) Ahern, died 28 years ago and he leaves one daughter Mrs. Mary McKeering and one son Edward J. Ahern, of this city, a granddaughter Mary Lou McKeering, and three sisters Mrs. Augustus Westland of Woburn, Mrs. Catherine Sullivan of Winchester and Mrs. Garnet Gamester of Cambridge. Several nieces and nephews also survive him.
FEENEY JOINS SALES STAFF OF BUICK COMPANY

   Thomas J. Feeney, Jr. well known in the automobile trade has joined the staff of the Medford Buick Company, Mystic Ave., Medford. Mr. Feeney has been associated with the John H. Bates, Inc. of this city for twenty years in sales, sales promotion and as President and Sales Manager of the Corporation.
   Mr. Feeney will represent Woburn and Winchester, which area he has been a well known figure for a score of years, in the distribution of Buicks and the sale of old cars. Mr. Feeney starts his duties today, and will be available to his old patrons at the salesrooms of the Medford Buick Company by appointment or by telephone.
