If you have Italian ancestry, particularly if they were Boston Italians, you will not want to miss this meeting.

Steve Puleo will discuss his book “The Boston Italians.” This book discusses the experience of Boston’s Italian immigrants as they battled poverty, illiteracy and prejudice. The book also explains their transformation into Italian Americans during the Depression and World War II and chronicles their rich history in Boston to the present day. “The Boston Italians” is necessary reading for anyone seeking to understand the heritage of this ethnic group.

Steve Puleo is the author of “The Boston Italians: A Story of Pride, Perseverance and Paesani, From the Years of the Great Immigration to the Present Day,” which was published by Beacon press in April 2007. In addition to his writing, Steve has more the 25 years of experience in the communications field. He has won awards for investigative reporting by the Massachusetts Press Association and the United Press International. Mr. Puleo is also the recipient of the 2007 I Migliori Award, which honors Americans of Italian ancestry who have excelled in their chosen fields and have made a significant contribution to society.
