Topic: Getting Organized

Speakers: Members of SSGS

1:30 p.m. John Curtis Free Library, Rt. 139, 534 Hanover Street, Hanover, MA (781) 826-2927

Whether you are new to genealogy, or a veteran researcher, you have become overwhelmed, at one time or another, by all the paper this obsessive hobby creates. You have copies of everything, for everybody, direct ancestors, collateral ancestors and those you have not yet made the connection to. (You know you could not find the information again if you tried.) You have notebooks, scraps of paper and file folders. You have piles everywhere, the dining room table, the floor, your computer desk, etc. Now, imagine a cousin calling and asking for your help. Where do you begin to find the answer? You know you have it but where is it? We will present several ideas on getting and being organized. We will touch upon forms, filing, computer programs and being organized for a research trip. Please be prepared to participate and to share additional ideas. Maybe you have ways that work for you that others could use.
