Topic: Researching Italian Ancestry

Speaker:Jim Forti

1:30 p.m. John Curtis Free Library, Rt. 139, 534 Hanover Street, Hanover, MA (781) 826-2927

When researching in any foreign country, it is important to understand when and where the records were created and why they were created. It is important to understand where to find the records, be it a village, a town, a county or a state. Italy is no different and has its own unique research challenges. Come learn the techniques needed to research your immigrant Italian ancestor. Whether or not you have Italian ancestry, the techniques can be applied to your own ethnic research.

Jim Forti is no stranger to SSGS as he is a longtime member of the society. Jim is a past president and a current board member. Jim has also been a longtime member of the Italian Genealogical Society of America. Jim has also been a presenter at the New England Family History Conference at the Family History Center in Franklin, MA in 2008.
