March Meeting

March 10, 2007

Speaker: Maureen A. Taylor

Identifying Family Photographs

1:30 p.m. John Curtis Free Library, Rt. 139, 534 Hanover Street, Hanover, MA (781) 826-2927

You have become the proud owner of the family photograph collection, a collection that may span several generations. The collection includes formal portraits, military photos, vacation photos as well as special family events and gatherings. Yet you face a great challenge. The people in the photos are not identified and you don’t know when and where the photos may have been taken.

During her presentation, Maureen Taylor will demonstrate that the photos hold the clues to the who, when, where etc. Clues that include the type of photograph, the photographer, clothing, ethnic dress, hairstyles, postal clues, locations and celebrations.

Maureen Taylor is a nationally recognized genealogist and author. She has written several books including “Uncovering Your Ancestry through Family Photographs.” Ms.Taylor is also a contributing editor and columnist for Family Tree Magazine. In addition to genealogy, Maureen specializes in history, photo history, preservation, photography and scrapbooking.
