September Meeting
September 15, 2007
Topic: Investigating the Dash: (1842-1929) Following an ancestor from cradle to grave.
Speaker: Marcia Melnyk
1:30 p.m. John Curtis Free Library, Rt. 139, 534 Hanover Street, Hanover, MA (781) 826-2927
When beginning your genealogical research much focus may have been placed on names, dates and documents. While these are an important part of your research, there is so much more to an ancestor’s life than just names and dates. It is important to “fill in the blanks” and not overlook what events, locally and internationally, took place between the cradle and the grave, and how the events may have impacted their life.
Marcia will discuss how you can begin to fill in the blanks. By creating a timeline for your ancestor, you can see what information is missing or conflicting. Are there gaps in your research? Once you look at your research from a new perspective, and “fill in the blanks,” the more they come to life. And possibly reveal some wonderful surprises.
Marcia Melnyk is a professional genealogist, lecturer, and author. She is President, and a founding member of the Italian Genealogical Society of America, a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists, and a former executive board member of the New England Regional Genealogical Conference. In 2004, Marcia was awarded the Donna Holt Siemiatkoski Genealogy Volunteer of the Year Award, by NERGC, as she has “lucidly and enthusiastically shares her tremendous genealogical knowledge and expertise with beginners and experts alike.”
