Narrative History
The Bradish or Old North Cemetery was established by Deacon James Bradish for North Upton, neighborhood residents. The conflict over the meetinghouse location in the 1760’s and 1770s suggests that residents of northern Upton, shared a common identity within the town that this ground may represent. Families represented in marked graves found here include Bradish, Whitney, Warren, Stearns, Jackson, and Buck. Map evidence for the small ground include the Walling map of 1851 where it is labeled grave yard and the Beers atlas of 1870 and the Richards atlas of 1898 which both mark it as a cemetery.
