Provincial Archives of Manitoba

The Provincial Archives of Manitoba contains documents relevant to the Red River Settlement, census records from 1831 to 1901 are available, ships' passenger lists, half yearly school attendance records from 1915 - 1965, as well as many records from various organizations such as the United Empire Loyalists, homestead records, along with many other sources.

The Hudson's Bay Company Archives (HBC)

A great source of interest and importance to those with roots in the fur trade of Western Canada, HBC archives include servants' contracts and service records, biography sheets, account books, notes on character of employees made by the superiors, picture of life at trading posts, and wills of some senior employees, among other things.

The Legislative Library of Manitoba has a collection of Manitoba newspapers, a collection of Henderson Directories dating back to 1876, as well as a collection of local history books from around the province.
