My GGrandmother Sybilla/ Cybilla/ Sabilla/ (first name) worked on a plantation owned by a family named BELL/ BELLE in Cumberland, MD somewhere between 1855 and 1869. A young son of the Bell family fathered 3 or 4 children by my GGrandmother. He wanted to marry her against his families wishes (because she was black) so one night he and Sybilla escaped and were supposed to have walked all the way from Cumberland, MD to to the town of Allegheny, PA which is now the North Side district of Pittsburgh, PA. They were married and changed their last names to OWENS. I need on the Bell family of Cumberland and any other verification to this info. Please help!!!

I am looking for information of the family of Solomon LEATHERMAN and Sarah PARRIS who were married in Allegany Co, 1 July 1852. All their children were born there. They were Daniel James b. 23 Aug 1854; Sarah E b. 1856 and Ida Priscilla b. 6 Oct 1859. They appear on the 1860 census in Hampshir Co, Va. Though the LEATHERMANS seem to have been from Hampshire Co, the PARRIS' seem to have come from Allegany Co, Md. I lost track of them from 1860 until their appearance in Clark Co, Ill. where Solomon died in 1867. His wife Sarah was born in Maryland as was her father James PARRIS who was b.c. 1795.
