Samuel WHIRL and Juliana FIFE WHIRL were residents of Cumberland, MD (Allegany County) back in the 1880's. I would very much welcome any information that visitors have to offer on these individuals. The surname also appears as WHORRELL or WHORL in some places.

Posting a query for Ms Edna Baker, residing in sheltered care facility in Harrisonburg, VA Looking for ancestors of John PORTER born 25 Dec 1805 in Wellersburg, PA. Listed in Allegany Co. MD 1850 census with 10 children, Ms Baker descended from son Andrew Bruce PORTER b 19 Nov 1843. Andrew's baptism listed in book Western Maryland Catholics-1998 as John of Henry and Mary Ann PORTER. Does anyone have proof who this Henry PORTER was? Henry PORTER believed to be son of John PORTER of Moses. Later John Porter identified as (afb) in Samuel Doak Porter's book. I will mail reply to Ms Baker.

I am trying to find any information on the following people buried at Greenmount Cemetery (owned by Mt. Zion Reformed Church in Cumberland, MD):
James C. JONES (b.1854 d. 1935)
Amanda CRUPPER-JONES (b. 1858 d. 1934)
*Carl L. JONES (b. 12/7/1918 d. 10/12/1977)
Shannon Lee JONES (b. 9/5/1886 d. 2/13/1953) and his wife, Margaret Virginia ROBINSON-JONES (b. 5/11/1898 d. 3/24/1955) are also buried there, too.

Shannon is one of James C. JONES and Amanda CRUPPER's children. (*Carl is Shannon's brother.) They had three others: Maude, Lina and Clifford. I am not sure if they are buried there, too. If anyone has information on James and Amanda, can take pictures of all known plots for Jones', or can help me with information on James' children (with their spouses or offspring), or Shannon's offspring, please contact me. One researcher says he is the son of Aaron MCKENZIE and Rachel HARP. Indicates a will written by Aaron in 1821 in Baltimore Co, MD. Aaron was born in 1740. I have not seen this will. Need proof of this relationship. Another source says Caleb is the son of Jonathan MCKENZIE (son of Moses McKenzie Sr). Please Help!
