Ancestors of Richard SNOWDEN
This collection of group sheets is based on a PAF file submitted
by Ellen L.Martin in 1999 to the First Families portion of this website. The
Snowden Family were early settlers of Anne Arundel County, The earliest land
grant for Richard Snowden was Robin-hoods-Forrest, surveyed 5 June 1686. On
11 JAn 1669 George Yate sold to Richard Snowden, planter of Anne Arundel Co and
Thomas Linthicum for 11,000 pounds of tobacco the tract of land "The Iron
Mine" at the head of South River. Through the early 1700s the family operated
iron works along the Patuxent River.
