Addresses For Vital Information

For Most cases, it is advisable to obtain copies of vital records for genealogical research from the Maryland State Archives (MSA). These files for Baltimore County include marriages since 1776, death and birth certificates since about 1898. Their is also a limited number of births that were recorded for 1865 to 1883. MSAs address is:

Maryland State Archives
350 Rowe Blvd.
Annapolis, MD 21401

>

Phone in Maryland toll free at:800-235-4045, Otherwise 410-974-3914
For details on obtaining information from MSA, check their web site http://www.mdarchives.state.md.us. You can obtain details from their website on restrictions for access to recent records, costs, and availability of records.
You can send them an E-mail at archives@mdarchives.state.md.us

There is also a Department of Vital Records for Maryland which provides birth, death, and marriage certificates. However, they are geared to providing legal copies of these documents, (for example you need a copy of your birth certificate to apply for a passport) and not assisting genealogist, so please contact MSA rather than the Department of Vital Records for your genealogical research.
