COEJoshua22 Aug 187525 Aug 1875Death of an Old Defender - Mr. Joshua Coe, an old defender of the war of 1812, died on Monday, at the advanced age of ninety-eight, at the residence of his son-in-law, 174 North Caroline street. Mr. Coe was a resident of Baltimore county up to eighteen months ago, when he came to Baltimore to reside with a married daughter. He was a copper refiner by trade and worked for about forty years at the Gunpowder Copper Works, being able to work until about five years ago. He retained his sight and hearing to the last, the only signs of decay being a partial failure of memory the past year or two. His health was so good, he said, he
never to ten cents worth of medicine in his life. His remains will be taken to-day to Baltimore county for burial.

He was formerly a magistrate of the county. He was the originator and one of the charter members of Howard Lodge, No. 2?, of the Shield of Honor, at Phoenix. A wife and two children, Mr. William T. Coney and Mrs. Addie V. Stern survive him. The funeral took place Wednesday at Phoenix Methodist Episcopal Church. The tree orders, Howard Lodge of the Shield of Honor, of Phoenix, Knights of Pythias of White Hall, and Odd Fellows of Hereford, were represented. Rev. Elmer E. Marshall, junior pastor of Hereford Circuit, officiated. The several orders assisted with appropriate ceremony. The interment was at Poplar Methodist Protestant Church Cemetery, near Warren.

Bloomsbury, the home of Mr. Gustav W. Lurman, on the Valley road, near Catonsville, after an illness of several months. She was born on Dec. 1, 1821, at Hazelwood, where she lived with her father until his death, about twenty years ago. Since then she has lived with Mr. & Mrs. Gustav W. Lurman at Catonsville. Mrs.Lurman is a niece of Miss Cooke. Her funeral took place at five o'clock Tuesday afternoon from St. Timothy's Church, where services were conducted by the rector, Rev. Percy Foster Hall. Interment was in Loudon Park Cemetery. The pallbearers were Messrs. B. D. Williams, Benjamin Ogle, John Hodges, Henry Worthington, H. G. Armstrong and Theodore G. Lurman.

COXWm H.10 Aug 187712 Aug 1877Death of ex-councilman. Wm H. Cox, aged 70 years died Monday night of heart disease, at his residence 678 West Baltimore street. He had been confined to the bed for three weeks. He was born in Kent county and came to Baltimore when a young man. He was a promient merchant sailor until ten years ago when he retired. He was a member of the first branch of the city council from 1883 to 1885, serving one year for fourteenth ward and two years for the thirteenth ward, and superintendant of the criminal court building. He was also a founder of the Crescent Club. He was amembe of Arcana Lodge of MAsons, Adonram Chapel, Baltimore Commandery No 2 K.T. and past grand of Iris Lodge No 40 and president of the Winans Land Company of Baltimore-
