| DAVIS | Annie C. | 21 May 1889 | 1 June 1889 | DAVIS, ANNIE C. We are called upon to chronicle the death of Mrs. Annie C., wife of Mr. Robert Davis, of Rayville, which occurred on Tuesday night, 21st. ult. She had been a victim of that fell destroyer consumption for several years, bearing her affliction with Christian fortitude and that resignation which characterizes the true follower of God. She was in her 48th year, and leaves a very interesting family of five boys and one girl behind. There seemed to be an extraordinary amount of maternal affection exhibited by this mother for her children, which was duly appreciated by them. They had her welfare as the uppermost thought in their minds. On the Friday following, at 1 P.M., her funeral took place at Pine Grove Church, the Rev. Mr. Young conducting the services. Mrs. Emma Barshinger presided at the organ. After the services at the church the remains were viewed by a large concourse of people. There were many moistened eyes as the last look was taken of her whom they had learned to love for her many sterling qualities. We sympathize with this bereaved family in this the time of their sore affliction. | Maryland Journal |
